Lizzie and Jennie Saltzman were sitting side by side on the Salvatore School bus, heading down to the school. The sounds of fellow students laughing and talking about their summers echoed throughout the small space of the bus.
Jennie was nervously bouncing her leg up and down as she bit her lower lip. Nervous didn't even begin to describe the panic surging through the girl's body. She had no idea what was waiting for her. She could only imagine all the nasty rumors about her that were circulating throughout the school. She just hoped the kids had enough sense in them not to say anything to her.
Lizzie eventually took notice of her sister's inability to keep still. Also the fact Jennie was biting her lip so hard it was bleeding.
"Hey, Jennie." Lizzie nudges her sister's side, gaining her attention. Jennie looks at her sister questioningly.
"You got a little something..." Lizzie whispers, gesturing to her lips.
Jennie catches on and licks her lips, immediately tasting the blood.
Jennie nods. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just a bit..." She trails off, searching for the right word.
"Nervous?" Lizzie finishes.
"That's putting it lightly. But yeah." Jennie breaths out.
"Don't be, everything is going to be fine," Lizzie assures her sister.
Jennie gives her sister a look. "You don't know that." She sighs. "People are probably already lining up to take a go at me. This year will most likely go up in smoke just like last year."
"Well, this year you'll have an advantage." Lizzie smiles, not losing her newfound optimism.
"And what is that? The wonderful five months of therapy?" Jennie quips.
Lizzie shakes her head. "No, me."
Jennie raises her brow. "You?"
The blonde nods, turning to fully face her sister. "Look, I know I haven't been the best sister."
