The last thing Jennie Saltzman wanted to be doing was attending the pathetic, last-ditch effort that was a couples therapy session with the school counselor and her girlfriend... ex-girlfriend? Jennie wasn't sure. The two girls had barely spoken to one another since their fight on the deck. Both of them were too stubborn to admit their faults in the argument...Which was probably the reason why the school counselor wanted to meet with them.
"What is she doing here?" Hope asked with disappointment as soon as Jennie walked into the room. It was very obvious that the girl wasn't previously informed of the counselor's true intentions as Jennie had been. Which meant the auburn was there for a different reason. If Jennie had to guess it would be because of the dodgeball incident that happened earlier that day.
"Well, I thought it would be good for the three of us to have a chat." Dr. Goodfellow answered as he gestured for Jennie to come further into the room with a small smile.
"Well, you can't really have a couple's session if we're not a couple, can you?" Hope specified dryly. "Right?" She questioned, looking at the brunette when she didn't respond.
Jennie just rolled her eyes as she begrudgingly took a seat next to Hope. "I don't know what we are."
"Well, she walked away because she thinks that I still have feelings for Landon." Hope explained to the counselor.
"Because you do," Jennie retorted, "and I didn't walk away."
"Your feet physically moved in a direction away from me."
"I mean, I didn't walk away from the relationship." Jennie clarified. "Not permanently. I just needed... I..." She stumbled over her words as she searched desperately for the right way to describe what she was feeling.
Hope leaned closer to the girl, "What?" She asked with her eyebrow raised, not giving Jennie time to further explain.
Jennie sat back in her chair and sighed, giving up. "I don't know."
"Yeah, well, things are complicated, clearly." Hope muttered, disappointed with the brunette's lack of reasoning.
The door to the office opened once again, only this time Landon Kirby entered the room.
Jennie shook her head as her expression hardened. "Oh hell no." Landon grimaced as he sheepishly made his way over to the three. "Why is he here?" Jennie angrily questioned Dr. Goodfellow with a scowl on her face.
