"I'm sorry, Hope. There's nothing I can do. I don't make the rules." Jennie apologized as she helped her girlfriend pack her things so she could move into a different dorm.
"I still don't understand why we can't continue sharing a room," Hope complained, placing a notebook in a box.
"Because you aren't allowed to share a room with someone you are in a relationship with," Jennie explained for what felt like the thousandth time. "And my dad won't budge so I'm afraid we'll have to make due."
"Your his daughter can't he make an exception?" Hope pressed.
Jennie gave her a pointed look. "When has my father ever made an exception for me? If anything, he'll make an exception for you, you were always his favorite." The last sentence came out more bitter than Jennie intended.
Hope gave her a look. "Don't say that. It's not true."
It was, but Jennie decided not to say anything.
"And that's the last of it," Hope announced as she placed the last of her things in the box, a small frown spreading across her face.
"Relax, O. It'll be fine. My dad said you'll be getting a single, so I can stay over whenever you want." Jennie said as she walked over to stand next to Hope. "Now, I have to go talk to my dad about something. I'll see you later, okay?"
Hope sighed. "Yeah, okay."
Jennie gave her a small smile before quickly kissing her goodbye. She walked over to the door and gave her girlfriend one more reassuring smile before leaving the room.

"Alright Jennie, you can do this. Second times a charm." Jennie whispered to herself as she stood outside her father's office. She took a deep breath before she walked in, softly knocking on the door to alert him of her presence.
Alaric was standing behind his desk, talking to someone on the phone. He looked up when she entered before responding to the person on the other side of the line. "Of course, thanks for letting me know. I'll send someone over for it. Bye."
He ended the phone call before looking back up at his daughter. "For the last time, you can't continue to share a room with someone you're in a relationship with."
