It was Saturday afternoon.
It was earlier than Eddy would normally get up on a weekend, but he didn't want to interfere with Double D's schedule.
They were both in Edd's room, finishing Eddy's project.
They didn't have much left to do, but Eddy was having a hard time concentrating.
Edd wanted him to do at least a little bit of it, just so he understood how it worked.
Eddy agreed with him, but he wasn't doing too well.
He was extremely stuck in his thoughts.
He didn't know how to handle his brain's ideas and suggestions.
He even thought that he would just spit it out to at least Ed, just to see what would happen.
Ed would be an easy target, as he doesn't really grasp the concept of... anything.
Double D was mature and understanding, which if his crush was someone else, he probably would've told him by now.
It makes it even more difficult when the person that would be best to talk to it about is the person you are talking about.
Eddy sighed.
He was trying too hard to line up the wires correctly with the board, but his hands wouldn't stop shaking.
Double D watched him quietly, not really having anything else to do.
"So, Eddy..."
He finally got it lined up, taping it to the board.
"Uh-huh?"
He picked up the light bulb to screw onto the pretty much finished circuit.
"This, boy..."
Eddy froze.
He almost dropped the lightbulb, but it would've ended in disaster.
He moved extremely slow, trying to register what Double D said.
"What?" He managed.
"Am I wrong?"
Double D assumed that if he was wrong then Eddy would correct him, laughing at his attempt to make Eddy look fruity.
But he didn't.
He looked like he just found out he got someone pregnant.
Edd watched him, his body language confirmed his assumptions.
Eddy watched his hand shake more aggressively than before.
He put the light bulb down.
But he didn't twist it.
He stayed quiet.
He didn't know what to say.
"I don't really know what you're talking about." He excused.
He tried to act nonchalant, but he could feel anxiety waves running down his back.
It felt cool, and then like he was lightheaded.
"It's okay, Eddy..."
Double D didn't know if it was a good idea to put his hand on his shoulder or not.
Eddy twisted the light bulb.
It lit up.
"Hey, won't you look at that? It works."
Escapism.
"Eddy..."
He couldn't leave the room without his project, so he had to improvise.
