Over the past few weeks, Eddy did realize how much Edd favored him over Ed.
Surely, he would try to spend equal time with each of them, but he spent more time with Eddy no doubt.
He even admitted one time while talking to Eddy that he couldn't hold conversations with Ed, meaning they were always in silence.
It was boring, and he had thoughts he needed to get out.
And more recently, whenever Eddy would ask if they should bring Ed along, he would almost always politely decline.
The more he thought about it, the more it made him smile.
But Edd had no problem meeting another girl every few months.
And he would always talk to Eddy about it, feeling comfortable to do so.
But somehow, when Eddy was on autopilot, he agreed to hang out with Double D again.
He only finally became conscious when Edd asked him about... that again.
"I'm sorry, was that too much? I should really leave it alone..."
Eddy looked over to see Double D on his bed, sitting up with some practice exams.
He himself was laying down, arms spread out.
"What? I think I zoned out; I have no idea what you just said."
"Oh, that makes it better."
"No! Now I'm curious."
Eddy watched Edd fake ignore him, tapping his pencil on his chin.
"Dude... you gotta tell me, what if it was something that would've made my day? Or made me question my entire reality?"
Double D stifled a chuckle.
"I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable."
Eddy sighed.
"What do you want to know?"
Double D placed his pencil down, holding it so it wouldn't roll down.
"I just said..."
"Yeah?"
Edd grabbed his papers and placed them on Eddy's small desk.
While he placed them down, he held there to think.
"How does he make you feel?"
Eddy sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
If he told the truth, he couldn't get caught, right?
Anyone can make anyone feel like anything.
Eddy wasn't really the sappy kind that told anyone how they made him feel, so Edd never really heard any of it.
So he mentally shrugged and told the truth.
Even though it made him nervous.
But the slight confidence that he wouldn't get caught made it a little easier.
"Well, he makes me feel different."
Double D turned around and sat back on his bed.
"Compared to him, I'm definitely worse. Like... I'm not as put together. I mean, this was the same with most of the girls I've dated too."
Edd hummed.
"He makes me feel important sometimes, because they think too hard, trying to make their lives more difficult than it needs to be. But I think they grew up that way."
Eddy for some reason didn't want to make eye contact.
"The feelings I have for them I think have stuck with me for years, and I didn't realize how it interfered with literally everything I do until recently."
"So, you have known them for a while?"
Eddy hesitated.
"Yeah." He said slowly.
Double D nodded thoughtfully.
"But they are also so understanding and realistic, that everything I complain to them about or talk to them about, their advice fits into it perfectly. Everything they say is just perfect. They are perfect. If someone told me to describe a perfect human being then I would say him."
Double D chuckled lightly.
"Nobody's perfect, Eddy. Physically, mentally, anything. But the fact that you feel so strongly about them... makes them perfect."
"Exactly."
Eddy looked over at him.
Edd looked down at him, holding his sweet smile.
"You've never described a girl like that."
Eddy looked into his eyes.
"I never loved a girl like this."
"That's so sweet. I would love to meet him."
Eddy wanted to tell him to look in the mirror.
"I don't know if they like me like that, though. Not everyone is queer ya know."
He was getting a little too comfortable.
"I think you should ask them; it wouldn't hurt."
He didn't seem to be catching on.
He was talking very casually.
Oblivious.
"Maybe."
"They are so out of my league too. What if I drag them down? Make their parents embarrassed?"
Too comfortable.
Way too comfortable now.
"You know Eddy, I don't think there is such a thing. Leagues and ranks. If you love each other and make each other happy, it shouldn't matter what others think."
"You ever had a girl tell you that?"
Eddy was starting to sweat now.
He started to realize how close he was running with his words.
"Tell me what?"
"Oh, I am so out of your league why would you ever date me? Blah blah."
Double D tilted his head.
"Ah, I have... and I told them exactly that."
"You—"
Eddy stopped himself.
He always told him that he was so understanding.
So considerate.
"What, Eddy?"
"Oh, I forgot."
He turned fully away.
Double D chuckled lightly.
"Alright?"
[*tortures you AGAIN*]
