DEAR JEREMIAH - Ocean

you told me
I had to be silent
silent like the seven seas
and ocean shores

silent like the waves that perpetuated
and the sea floors that caved in

I had to be silent
like the wind that gushed
over the lines of my bare skin

the salt ridden
from the depths of the earth

the ochre
painted on the plains
of your body

you were the
definition of the blue
a mirage that
reflected the open sky

you untethered soul
unafraid to fly
with the wings you sought to never
take away
to the realm of never before

dear Jeremiah,

the man painted

with the most infectious smile.

A/N: This one is personally my favourite, so far hehe. The poem alludes to the biblical proverb of Psalm 42:10 (Be still and know that I am God."), where the persona is instilled to remain still to overcome her tribulation but also the imagery of a lover; compared to the stillness of the ocean. Nevertheless, I love incorporating ambiguous meanings in my poetry; with it's symbolism completely up to you. 🦋
