HOW THE SEVEN SEAS FORGIVE

the shore is loud,
the shore is vigorous,
the oceans are deep,

deeper than what meets the human eye,

deeper than what the human eye can ever see

the seven seas are very open,
  they are
proud,
  they never back down,
    they are mighty,
strong
and
resilient.

look at how the seven seas are
trashed
destroyed,
hurt
and disregarded,

and yet,
somehow,
the seven seas will always forgive,
you see?

because even when the seven seas,
oceans and shore is hurt,
it will still sing it's hymns loudly
and bang the cymbals of its waves proudly

even when it is littered heavily
with more plastic than creatures
even when its eco systems are withering
just like the fall of autumn,
one by one

the oceans will always be there
and the oceans will always forgive, freely

the seven seas
and mighty shores
are stronger in forgiveness
than I am

In one way or another,
we must learn from the sea

CONTEXT: I wrote this poem a while ago, when I was deeply intrigued with environmentalism and the effects of pollution on the ocean. I believe that the seas are a place of solace for many people, littered with memories and joy and laughter; and although the ocean is so destroyed and hurt by many, it always seems to forgive; to provide a space of happiness and healing for the individuals that exist on this planet.

In one way or another, we must learn to forgive each other and we must learn from the sea.
