YOU ONLY HAD TO BE STILL

I had to learn

how to be still in the deep waters,

I had to learn how to float,

in the midst of a rainy storm,

the breeze and tide
were immense, but I still survived.

Still survived that rocky shore
that was the ocean,

that tried to drown me,

but ultimately

could never quite thrive.

I had to be still

to overcome the storms,

the sharp waves raging and bashing against

my own head and feet,

the pain that I felt,

the weight I was forced to carry,

the crashing waves that emerged

beneath the touch

of my sandy feet

they were

I could not lie,

mighty, strong

but they never quite thrived,

I could never let something that tried to strangle me

kill me,

for I was stronger than that,

stronger within Him, who strengthened me.
