LETS TALK FATAL FLAWS
┌─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───┐
OKAY SO for some reason I never see a lot of fics uncover their ocs fatal flaw which is a very big thing for the characters of the Percy Jackson universe.
FOR EXAMPLE Annabeth's is hubris aka deadly pride, Percy's is excessive personal loyalty and Nico's is holding grudges. Your character's fatal flaw determines how most of their 'downfalls' happen. Like Percy's loyalty gets him in trouble. Because of it he's always near-death because he sacrifices himself within seconds for the people he loves. Nico shuts himself out from the rest of the world and creates enemies he doesn't need by holding grudges — this causes excessive loneliness. In my book I Am Not a Woman I'm a God (hehe) my oc Regina's fatal flaw is revealed and I wrote how it affects her and how it causes strain in her relationships with friends and family.
MAKE SURE your ocs fatal flaw actually makes sense. Like it wouldn't make sense if Percy's fatal flaw is selfishness because clearly he's extremely selfless. Make sure their fatal flaw results in many of their downfalls and creates unfortunate consequences. Nobody is perfect, so don't try and make your ocs fatal flaw like 'too cool' or 'is immune to dying' stfu. I want raw, real stuff. I want things that cause them to crash and evaluate themselves. It's called Fatal Flaw for a reason.
ASK YOURSELF questions about it too. Do they listen and learn from their fatal flaw? Do they assess themselves and make sure that they develop? Or do they ignore it? Do they feed into their fatal flaw? Will their fatal flaw eventually reveal why it's fatal? Does their fatal flaw affect anyone else? Will it be their downfall?
IN CONCLUSION discover your ocs fatal flaw or I'll hate u. <3
