LETS TALK
CELEBRITY DEMIGODS

IDC IDC
having your oc as a child/relative or a famous hero is really cool, IF you execute it well. There are literally two scales to writing this and it can tip either way so let's talk through how you can avoid it being a shitshow.

FIRST OFF
let's use an example. I'll use Achilles. Say you wanted to create a fic where the main two characters represent Achilles and Patroclus. Making your oc a relative of Achilles would be really cool in this case, because it's an instant of deja vu. Especially in The Last Olympian where the ghost of Achilles returns to talk to Percy, this could be a really good moment of development for your oc.

OR EVEN
a child/relative of Thesus would also be good during the battle of the labyrinth. Does your oc suffer the same fate? Are they given the same options/choices? Will they suffer the same consequences or change it so that they do things differently from Thesus? How would Minos react? There are so many things you could do with stuff like this and I think it's so cool to take this concept.

HOWEVER, BEWARE
of making it ... awful. Because it's something that could easily go horribly so quickly.

THE FIRST
mistake you could make is literally copying the heroes every exact personality trait, moment, flaw and story. Like you don't wanna be making a carbon copy that just defeats the purpose I may as well just read about the original story. There's a big fat difference between inspiration and just straight up copying. No one cares to read that I promise.

IN REGARDS
to what I said previously, creating an original oc with the inspiration of the famous relative is vital. While they have clear inspiration, they must be an original character. They must have flaws that aren't the same as the hero you're creating a concept out of. For example; Achilles is a very flawed hero. While he is brave and he is strong, he is too proud and stubborn. While he is deeply loving he is also egotistical. He is his own enemy and destroys things himself due to his own actions. Making a character that is maybe the opposite could mean people expect the worst of them. Or maybe making an oc which is destined to have the same fate as Achilles, how do they make sure it doesn't happen?

IN CONCLUSION
having an oc related to a famous greek demigod hero could either be a masterpiece or a shitshow.
