Ink's POV
I'm sitting on my family's porch, snacking on an orange I found in the fridge. Summer started a few days ago, the sun is just setting. I always like sunshine and anything to do with the sun, it was my favorite thing. Well, I'm only six, so I kinda have too many favorite things
I looked around on my neighborhood street, since the sun wasn't out of sight yet, the street lights weren't on, so I still sat out here. I was completely mesmerized when the sky slowly darkened, with shades of pink, red, orange, yellow and purple.
But, I noticed something in the corner of my eye. A yellow-green inkling around my age, he seemed to be alone. He looks shy and nervous, like he's looking for someone or something. Maybe I should say hi, yeah that's a good Idea! I stood up, a half eaten orange in my hand, and walked across the empty street to say hi.
3rd POV
The blue hair squid made her way to the opposite side of the street. "Hi there, my name is Ink, how about you?!" The other squid was startled at the sudden sound of her voice. He took a second to respond, mostly frome him being nervous, "Um...well, my name is Rider, and I, well um, I need help getting something..."
"Oh! What do you need help finding, I'm the best at finding things!" Ink smiled. Rider was confused, but also amazed on how confident this other inkling is. "Alright, I'll show you where it is, follow me this way." He walked on the sidewalk, while Ink skipped closely behind him.
Rider finally led Ink to an abandoned house on the end of the street. "You mind telling me what you lost and where it is Rider?" Ink asked. Rider said nothing and just pointed to the porches old wooden staircase, so dry and brittle too. Ink looked around the stairs and saw a small hole. Without any thought in her mind or warning to Rider, Ink immediately fell onto the ground and crawled into the empty space below.
Rider's POV
"Huh!? What are you doing, you can get hurt!" I yelled frantically. She didn't respond, I can only hear her crawling around underneath the house. I start to panic, what if she doesn't find it, or gets hurt! It'll be all my fault. While I was still collecting my thoughts, I fell a tap on my shoulder, I turned my head to see that it was just Ink. She had twigs and leaves in her hair, and dirt all over clothes.
"Hellooooo, earth to Riderrrrr, is this what you were looking for?" She was holding my journal, I had some mud and scratches on it but for the most part it was completely fine. "Yeah! That's what I was looking for, how did you even find it, it's so dark down there, and-" I got cut of by her. "Look, I'll start to explain what I did while we walk back home, okay? Okay." Ink started to walk back down the side walk, so I quickly followed her.
3rd POV
The 2 young Inklings walked and talked about random things, nothing in particular though. They were giggling and smiling there way to each other's homes. The sun has completely set, and no sounds were herd, except for the gentle breeze. They both make it back to Ink's home, and then say there goodbyes. Rider made his way to his own home until Ink spoke up for a moment.
"Wait! I have something to give you! Stay right there" she ran up to Rider and took a bracelet off her arm and gives it to Rider. Rider was surprised a this kind action, " your giving me a bracelet, like a friendship bracelet?" He questioned. The excited blue squid nods and shakes the bracelet in anticipation.
Rider is hesitant to take it, but ends up taking it and putting it on his arm. Ink gets attached to others easily, so seeing that she made a new friend, filled her with joy. She quickly gave Rider a hug and asked " we're going to be friends forever right?" Rider not knowing what to do or say, just hugged back and responded with "Yeah, best friends..."
After a bit, they part their ways, Ink goes inside her home, while Rider makes his way to his. He stared at the bracelet on his rist, smiling the whole way home. He look up at the dark sky, only the stars were visible now. When was outside his house he had a thought cross his mind..
"I never thought making friends was that easy..."
"Let's just hope it will last."
