Ink's POV
The current time was 3:35, 25 minutes until I go to the Shoal with Rider, I'm nervous yet kinda excited to see him not in the mist of battle. What should I wear, probably something not too flashy, something casual.
"Should I wear a back sweater or my Chirpy Chirp's band tee? Ugh! I hate being so indecisive about stuff like this! Look, just dress how you normally do, don't do anything crazy!"
I gave myself a pep talk, and started rummaging through my closet again. I decided to pull out a blue flannel shirt, I don't remember wearing it in a while, but it was clean and didn't have any permanent stains, so it'll work just fine.
3:45, It's been 10 minutes already?! Crap! I need to get going now! I threw on my clothes and grabbed the necessary items, phone, earbuds, etc. Thank god that the train wasn't there yet so, I had to wait a little bit. Good, I can decompress a little.
Rider's POV
I had just walked out of my house to start walking to the square, it's pretty close so I don't have to take a train ride. But oh my god, it was hot today. I had to take my jacket off because it had me boiling in it, luckily it will cool off later in the evening.
"Of course I had to wear my leather jacket today, just great..." I nagged to myself. "Hopefully I'll cool off soon and won't be so grumpy. Would hate to ruin the rest of the day for this girl I'm going to hang out with...Ink was it? Whatever."
Rider was so lost in thought, he didn't realize he had made it to the square."Huh? Oh, I'm here... Hmm, I wonder where she is... Hopefully she didn't forget or bail on me." Rider whispered to himself. He then pulled out his phone to pass the time.
I looked at some basic things, the news, social media, nothing too special. Honestly despite it being so hot it could melt your skin off, it was nice out. I mindlessly zoned out on my phone, completely blanking out.
3rd POV
Ink rushed into the square, out of breath and panicked. "RIDER, RIDER SORRY I LEFT YOU WAITING!" She ran towards him. Rider jumped a little from ink's shouting. "Ah-?! Nah its fine, just keep it down will ya?" Rider had an annoyed tone in his voice.
"Oops... sorry about that, that was my bad. I'll try not to yell as much around you." Ink admitted to Rider. Rider was surprised on how proper and apologetic Ink was to him, all he could do was smirk and chuckle a little. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. I think we should start heading towards the Shoal, right m'lady" Rider question, putting his hand out playfully. Ink smiled and took his hand, "We shall, Sir. Rider!" She responded in an exaggerated queen like voice, before giggling right after. The two of them entered the arcade.
The 2 squids played some arcade games for the next hour or so.
Chatting, eating crappy arcade food,
And just genuinely having a good time together. The time flies by, both of them losing track of it. "Ha ha!~ God Rider you stories are so funny, I swear to God you're gonna give me abs if you keep that up, Ha ha!" Ink laughing out loud from Rider's storytelling skills. Rider smiled a lot that evening. "Dude, I'm not that funny, your humor is just dead-" Rider spoke as he put his arm around her shoulder. We smiled at each other.
And then somewhere across from the Shoal, all you can hear was: "Aww, look at those two young love birds!"
...
Love birds...!?
Ink's POV
You have no idea on how fast my smile faded into an awkward, concerned grin. I look towards Rider, and just as I thought, he's smiling like someone is singing happy birthday to him. Complete, utter, awkwardness. I feel his arm unwrap around me, he stood up all stiff like, We should probably go home after this.
"Hey, uhh, R-rider! You wanna walk me back to the, um, train station?" I changed the topic, after we heard that, we just wanted to go home. "Mmmhmm, yeah, I'll walk ya there" Rider answered as the both of us rushed out of there. Well, we're back at the station, and not dead from public humiliation. "Well... see you on the flip side?" I spoke up to break the silence. Rider did nothing but nod, while fidgeting with the plush Keychain I won him at one of the Crain games.
The train arrived and I hoped on, and immediately covered my head with my flannel shirt, screaming eternally. There goes all my chemistry with a guy I met only days ago. I can't wait to flop on my bed and pass out.
