"What's the holdup? Alright, we rescued Nik, we escaped mortal danger why are we not on a private jet to Saint-Tropez?" Kol grumbled and complained as he walked around the porch with a frown, and snatched the newspaper away from Elijah's hands with ease. "You can catch up on the last five years when we're on our way-- I can assure you haven't missed much."

"Kol," Rebekah said in a stern yet soft voice from the other side of the porch, pleading with him to be more patient with Elijah this morning through nonverbal communication, given last night's events, that left him stunned.

After the surprising appearance of a child in the front door who called Cassie "Mommy", said mom rushed to lead the child back to his room, and since then no one has seen her. No one has spoken of what happened there, either, and no one even dared to ask Hayley about it. Was it the consuming fear of hearing a confirmation to the assumption they all had that prevented them from seeking answers from her? Maybe. Or maybe it was because they all wanted to leave it for the next day, where things most likely would get clearer.

The next day came faster than expected-- at least for Elijah, who hasn't gotten a single minute of sleep. He did some thinking. Lots of it, truthfully. He had in mind all kinds of possible scenarios when he pictured their emotional reunion-- but this definitely wasn't one of them. Never in a million years did Elijah imagine finding her with a child. But then again, maybe it was his fault, for he was the one to ignore the heads up he had received beforehand?
