He was punching and kicking a punching bag vigorously in an attempt to clear his mind and release some of his anger and stress. He was doing it quite a lot lately, and in the past few days - now that Hayley's back, and so does the familiar Cassie - even more. He got so heated in his exercise that he hit the bag clear across the room, where it knocked over a bench press and hand-weights.

He looked up at the door when he heard it being slammed, brows furrowing at the upset state that the girl who walked in came with.

"Why did I have to hear from Hayley about the vampires club that came to a town named 'The Strix'?!" She snapped at him with a scowl.

"How-"

"This Tristan guy sent her an invitation to a party tonight, which, by the way, was very offensive that I didn't get one either." She folded her arms on her chest with a childish huff.

"I thought you don't like parties." He raised a brow as a small smirk crept to his lips.

"I'm too curious to pass an event like this, and I didn't get a raise of toast in my birthday, anyway." She shrugged and explained before she blinked rapidly and shook her head to add, "But that's not the point, Elijah! Who are The Strix?!"

He sighed and started to walk past her toward the bench behind her, where he left a towel to wipe the sweat from his face. "Fret not. It shouldn't worry you."

"But it does." She grabbed his sturdy arm and pulled him back to stand in front of her. She tilted her head to the side and narrowed her eyes at him before murmuring, "And you weren't planning to ask me to be your date for that party?"

He gave in to the irresistible need to smile with a roll of his eyes. "Did not think you'd be interested to attend it, but if you are.."

"How about you start with telling me about The Strix and then we could negotiate about tonight, huh?" She grinned in satisfaction before he started to explain.

"What are you doing here?"

She opened one eye to look at him in annoyance as he entered the room. "..I live here?"

"Yes. Obviously." He rolled his eyes and stopped to stand in front of her yoga mat while she made a few relaxing poses. "I just hadn't realized you were back from wherever it is you go to when you leave! Perhaps I was thrown off by the lack of strange gentleman callers perusing the contents of my refrigerator this morning."
