Is this the end of us

It's early morning, you and alma were just talking and cuddling before needing to wake up. You both eventually get up and prepare breakfast and while you are frying eggs you hear a knock on the door and Alma goes to answer it opening it ajar as there never has usually had mail before.
"It's a letter from the ymbryne council," Alma called towards you quietly. You hum and carry on until you serve breakfast and wake up the children. You glance at Alma who seems concerned but she does a good job of hiding it. After breakfast, you clean up and Alma walks into the Kitchen "My love what's the matter?" You ask she hums not really caring about the question, she just hands you the letter and as you read it you feel your heart shatter. You sit down across from her an uncomfortable silence falls upon the room.

"We have to end our relationship." Alma mumbles to herself you're angry "Or what, what will they do my love?" You ask her Alma looks at you sadly "Most likely outcast me and remove the children from my care." Her voice trembling with emotion. You sit there shocked but have an idea suddenly "What if we get married! They said we don't need to listen if married-" Alma raises her hand silencing you obviously trying not to cry "My darling it is 1943, not whatever time you went to." She said angrily but you could tell not at you. Olive walks in so you both fall into a facade of a happy couple you leave to help Emma with the squirrel again.

It is lunch and it has been prepared you try to sit as near to Alma as you can as you fear that it may never happen again. You both walk into the study after lunch, you shut the door and Alma is stood right in front of you borderline pining you to the door your breath catches once again. " Y/n I love you more than words can describe but we need to end this only for a year and then we can be back to how it is." You nod you give her a soft kiss witch you hope says what you want, it does Alma kisses you back placing her hands on your waist you wrap your arms around her neck. You always love her neck you pull each other close you run your tongue over the bottom lip she opens her mouth slightly allowing you to explore her mouth. After 10 minutes she pulls away with slightly swollen lips but it takes an extra 2 minutes to unhand each other.

"I'll sleep in my own room tonight then." Alma nods and leaves the room you stand there shocked at the fact you had the woman you love but now she's been ripped away once again. You walk out of the study shortly after and carry on with your daily responsibilities you help prepare dinner although you can't meet her eyes and you two speak civilly and then after dinner, Emma and Olive are speaking to each other "Did miss L/n and miss Peregrine was seen sad to you Emma?" Asks Olive Emma nods "They both seemed sad!" They speak about it a little more and then they walk inside. You and Alma are once again sitting in her study reading but all you can think about is her. You just cant your not sure you could wait a year and potentially be told you aren't going to be able to be with her.

Heartbroken you go upstairs to your room feeling completely alone, all you want is to go find Alma and cuddle up to her side. You look at the clock at 11 o'clock you turn around to sleep and around 4 a.m you wake so you go downstairs and as you go downstairs you hear Alma and Miss Avocet speaking "Why is she here so early my god." You think you stand near the doorway and overhear Alma say "Ezmerlda I'm in love with them but do not think that I will choose them over my children's safety." you hear miss Avocet laugh coldly "Really Alma, I'm not sure why love is suddenly of interest to you!" There's silence until Alma quietly explain that she has been alone for so long and when she realised that y/n loved her she couldn't turn them down as she quickly fell in love too. " I will not risk my children's lives!" You walk into the parlour and sit down with a book.

Miss Avocet leaves and Miss Peregrine enters the room she has clearly been crying, "Y/n I'm sorry but it's best if you leave, and return in a year." You look up shocked, hurt and gobsmacked but you nod and return the book to its place on its shelf and before leaving your turn and ask "Will you still be here in a year?" Alma nods and says "Stay nearby just incase though with the raids me and the children may need a place to stay." You nod as you are aware of the house your older sibling owns if you just get in there they will go and investigate who living there and will not be angry but instead would understand...
