Archer's POV
I'm currently in a prone position laying down a good ways out from the faint silhouette of an Atlesian facility. I lay there with a small monocular spotter scope with thermal vision on since I can't see shit due to the blizzard. I haven't really seen much movement but I have seen a couple guards doing their rounds or on breaks. I then hear the beeping noise of my comms. I raise my fingers up to my left ear.
GR: Comms check.
"Go for Archer."
GR: Alright Archer, your job is to infiltrate a facility high up in the Atlesian mountains, find anything important and take pictures of it. For exfil we can do it one of two ways: We can land the helicopter as close as we can to the facility since the blizzard can only cover up our noise so much, or we can do a fly-by exfil, pretty much what you do is we have our helo *yes I intentionally spelt it like that* fly over you as you shoot the line-hook towards it and grapple into the entrance of the troop transport area.
"I've got two questions. One, I'm still wondering why I'm infiltrating Atlas? Aren't we neutral or allies with them?"
GR: Yes, we are, but as of recently we've noticed some oddities happening around Atlas and Remnant as a whole. We've noticed that these things are most commonly occurring near Atlesian bases and outposts. And yes, there will be restrictions. This mission is strictly stealth oriented.
"Well I guess this leads into my other question, what are the restrictions?"
GR: The other restriction is lethal force is not authorized and will not be tolerated. So remember, if you kill someone the mission will be over and we will extract you out of the AO. Remember, we cannot mess this up, if we fail this will increase political tension and potentially unleash all out warfare among the kingdoms. For all of Remnants sake, stick to the shadows.
I didn't like that response, for some reason it didn't really sit right with me. But I feel like if I were to try and push further I wouldn't get anything out of her.
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Any further information on the base or is that it?"
GR: That's all the info we've got. Goodluck down there, Archer. Grimm Reaper, signing off.
Comms went quiet. I remove my fingers from my earpiece and begin putting away my spotter scope back into one of my satchels. I began to crawl forward, despite the heavy blizzard obscuring anyone and everyone's vision, if someone were to get a glimpse of a figure moving, chances are, they would all be put on high alert which will make my job only harder. So, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
After a while I stop moving and turn on thermal on my NVGs, I look around and see a couple guards as before doing their rounds but now I saw another guy, he was atop a sniper post. Fucking great. I squinted to try and get a better look and I saw the faint outline of a rifle and a spotlight looking thing. I turn off thermal and keep crawling but at a slower pace and with a reminder that some guy could really ruin my day if I get caught.
*I know this isnt Splinter Cell music but it fits (I hope) and besides, I like Metal Gear too. So why not use music from two of the greatest Stealth franchises ever?*
