It's been six months since Sybil left. August threw himself into work to distract himself from filling the void she had left. Myah was the most devastated when Sybil left; she had grown attached to her and didn't have anyone to play with anymore.
Responding to an s.o.s from one of his pack warriors, August headed out to the location, Margot not far behind. They arrived to find nine of their warriors severely injured.
"Dom, what happened?" He asked.
"Rouges, they came out of nowhere. We scared them off, but they had more fighters than we did. We managed to catch one of them." Dom replied.
"You're not gonna like this," Margot said, dragging the unconscious rouge wolf behind her. She let him go and pulled back his shirt sleeve. August growled, seeing the mark he had.
"So Rick wants a war? We can't take this lightly; we'll take the injured to the infirmary and double the patrols. They caught us off guard before, but they won't this time. Take him to the cells; we'll talk to him once he wakes up." August said.
"He's trying to send a message; I just know it," Margot said.
"Whatever it is, he isn't going to get his way. Are you good, Dom?" He nodded. "Okay, we need to make sure every possible entrance is being watched and use the delta formation; even if they get through the front lines, we won't let them get any farther than that."
"Yes, Alpha." Dom walked away and started shouting orders to the other warrior wolves.
"What do you think he wants?" Margot asked.
"He was humiliated by a teenager and dethroned; what else could he want other than revenge?
"Why now? It's been nine years; he's been quiet. We've known about him starting his rouge pack, and he's had so many opportunities to fight against us, so why now? Does he think we're weaker now or something? Or is he just stupid to come after us?" Margot asked.
"Woah there, how about you calm down with the questions. We'll ask our new guest when he wakes up in the morning. Trust me, no matter what he throws our way, Rick will not beat us; I'll make sure of it."
"I'll stay on patrol; you can go home for the night," Margot said.
"There isn't anything to do at home. I'll let dad know to keep Myah with them tonight since she's over there anyway. We both are on patrol. Besides, when was the last time we beat some rouge a**? My muscles are just aching to beat something."
"It's been too long. It's going to be a long night." They headed out to the outer patrol layer. It was quiet, which kept everyone on their toes. They knew the rouges could be watching quietly, waiting for an opening. When one of the pack warriors turned their back, he was swiftly attacked by a rogue. A whole group of them appeared now on the attack. August and Margot quickly turned into their wolves and sprang into action.
August pounced onto one of the rogues pinning him down with his paw. The rogue tried to fight him off, but August quickly snapped his neck. Another rogue lurched at August, knocking him down. They struggled with each other; the rogue sank its claws into August's side and took a bite out of August's shoulder, making him whipper from the pain. Margot came to his aid, taking the rogue wolf off of him and throwing it against a tree knocking it unconscious. August transformed back into his human from holding his shoulder in pain. Seeing that they weren't going to win this fight, the rogue retreated. Margot transformed back into her human form, pulling an oversized t-shirt on and running to August. His shoulder was bleeding badly, and so was his torso. She covered his lower body with a blanket.
"We need to get him to Sierra. Now people!" They lifted him and carried him to the infirmary. "Dom, take a group of your best warriors and make sure those rat bastards are far away from our territory." Dom nodded and did as he was told. Margot ran to the infirmary.
"How is he?" Marot asked the second he got there.
"He's healing; it's just slow. That wolf took a bite out of him. It's going to take all night to heal. I gave him some pain medication and something to help him sleep."
"Thanks, doc." The doctor left her in the room. She watched him as he slept. He had big eye bags, and his face was a little sunken in. He had thrown himself into work from the minute Sybil left. It was a distraction from the rejection he felt. Margot wished she could help him, but she didn't know-how. The only way to help him was to bring Sybil back, but she couldn't do that.
"August Hale, you lovesick fool." She muttered. She called Bria to let her know what happened; she didn't want to wake Myah up from her sleep so they would come in the morning. She sat next to August's bed and fell asleep.
August grunted as he woke up, waking Margot. He sat up in his bed, ignoring his wounds. Margot watched him, silent. He started to take out the IV, and the machines started going crazy. He got up, and Margot stood up.
"How about you sit back down, superman. You're still healing." She said.
"I'm fine, Margot." He said. The door opened, and Bria ran inside.
"She's gone!" She yelled. "I looked everywhere, and I couldn't find her. Someone took her! She's gone!' Bria yelled.
"Woah, mom calm down; who's gone?" August asked.
"Someone took Myah! She was in her bed when I checked on her last night, but she wasn't there this morning. I looked everywhere, I thought maybe she was playing outside, but Myah is gone!" August's heart stopped at the news of his daughter being taken.
"Woah, Bria, are you sure?" Bria nodded. Daniel walked in, holding a note.
"I found this near the house." He handed August the note.
'It's time for you to lose everything you hold dear. We are starting with your daughter' -Rick.
August was now seeing red; Rick had gone too far by taking his daughter. His wolf took over, and he ran out of the hospital following his daughter's scent. They had taken her recently, so her scent was still there, he was past the Pack limits now, and her scent was gone.
