Synopsis: At her breaking point, Narcissa risks everything and follows a hunch she has on Severus Snape to save Draco from the Dark Lord's constant torture. That's how Draco Malfoy ends up waking up in a tent in the middle of nowhere, Potter, Weasley, and Granger perched over him, his wrists bound to an old camping cot and his wand nowhere to be found.
His mother had exchanged his life for a cup, a stupid cup, entrusting him to their helpless enemies.
Excerpt: Fucking Gryffindors.
Speaking of which, one of them was walking towards him, which meant either he was in trouble, or Draco and Theo were. Those two idiots, he had the worst taste in friends.
'Zabini' Ginny Weasley said instead of a greeting, clenched jaw and hands on her hips.
'Weasley' he said back. He'd seen her hexes and he hoped never to be on the receiving end of one, he hadn't done anything to anger her that he remembered, so...

My thoughts: So off the bat, I knew that this was definitely not going to be like the type of stories I usually read as it focused a lot on magical theory and I usually go for stories that simply diverge from the canon story. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I will say, I didn't love this story, but it was a good fast read and helped me out of a reading slump.
I thought some of the conflict moments between the character relationships could have simply been avoided by open communication between them and them thinking through their actions, especially during the final chapters. It simply stressed me out more than I would have liked it too because Hermione and Draco worked very well together but they couldn't read the other at the end or even be as fierce and fearless as they were in the beginning. I don't know, I did love their story but the strain on their relationship at the end of the story was unneeded and seemed out of character for the characters that the author had rewritten and created.
I did love the magical theory and I thought it was easy to follow and made a lot of sense. Honestly, I enjoyed the intellectual conversations between Hermione and Draco because the author focused on building their relationships around their like interests which was very nice to see. The addition of Draco in the trios Horcrux hunt and his input in the matter was refreshing and I liked how the author managed to tie up any loose ends through Draco. The author brought Draco and Hermione together in a very natural way and I liked seeing that lack of forced communication by building this healthy and mutually beneficial relationship through magical theory and the information they were privy to because of their shared love for learning and growing. They both took and gave into the relationship and responded to each other's needs and it was great.
Rec or Wreck: hard one but I'm going with REC.
