Synopsis:
Six years after the war, Hermione's parents are dying and her marriage to Draco is crumbling. Nothing seems logical in her life anymore. Her healer tells her to start writing about it, so she does, as a way to figure things out, and remind herself along the way.

You gave me a tight smile when you caught me staring; your cheeks bunched into strained parenthesis. You hated when I looked at you like that, like a puzzle to solve. But I knew how hard you were trying, how even if you didn't know what to say you always did something. That was enough for me; I thought we would be all right, Draco.
My Thoughts: This one is really a doozy. It leaves a tingling feeling in your spine for the first half because of how heartbreaking and heartwrenching their story is when we're given a look into it. I think it's best to warn you about this one. It is a beautiful read, one of my utmost favorites given the 15 times I have read it in the past year, but it is also one of the most emotional ones. It deals with grief and heartbreak and death even in such a short read that I feel uncomfortable not warning you beforehand. Nothing crazily graphic happens in this and it is not a horror story of any sort but the story is very real and tragic in an almost poetic way.
However, out of all the stories I have read on these lovebirds, none other than perhaps Manacled has left such a permanent mark on my brain or on my soul that, even months after reading it, I still remember specific lines or can revisit that sorrow and sadness I felt when reading certain parts of this story just by thinking back on it.
But, despite my warning, I truly urge you to read this story and see the beauty of the characters and this painstakingly human version of their lives. I really think you'll be utterly captivated by just the first chapter so please, if you are looking for something, maybe not darker but just more than happy and light, then read this because I am positive you will see automatically why I love it so much.
