Despite the lack of sleep from all the events of the night before, I was in good spirits as Sophia and I decided to spend our Saturday shopping. I was thrilled to be having a girl's day, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't also excited to have dinner with Spencer again tonight, just the two of us. I really had grown fond of him over the last several weeks, but I hadn't let on how fond of him I'd actually become. At least, I thought I hadn't.

"I can't believe Miles said all that shit! What an asshole." Sophia spat, as we were changing in the dressing rooms.

"Trust me, I was just as surprised as you. He seemed fine after I told him how I felt. I really thought we had moved on from it." I sighed.

"I mean, we all knew he was still kind of hung up on you, but I never would've guessed he would get so angry at you that he would be such a douche." She muttered, stepping out from behind the curtain of her changing room.

"Yeah, I don't get it. I'm not even dating Spencer. We're just friends and Miles knows that." I said, stepping out of my room as well. "That's so cute, you should get it." I added, pointing to her outfit.

"I don't like the color. That top on you is fantastic though." She replied. "Honestly, I'm not really surprised by his jealousy though. He probably doesn't believe you guys are just friends. I kind of questioned it myself."

"What? Why?" I asked.

"Babe, the way he was looking at you was straight up infatuation...and you practically migrated to him all night." She laughed.

"I was just trying to make him feel comfortable! Social situations aren't really his strong suit, and I didn't want him to feel left out." I said defensively.

"Oh, you made him feel comfortable alright!" Sophia teased.

I glared at her before stomping back into the changing room and dramatically snatching the curtain shut. I heard her laugh before doing the same.

Later that afternoon, as we were walking down the sidewalk with coffees and shopping bags in hand, my phone rang. Spencer and I didn't talk on the phone often, mostly just texts or talking in person, so I was surprised to see his name flashing across the screen. Sophia smirked as she looked over my shoulder.

"Hello?" I answered, feeling Sophia craning closer as she tried to listen in.

"Liv, hi. I really wish I didn't have to do this but we had a case come up. I'm actually about to leave town again. I won't be able to do dinner tonight." He stated.

I felt my heart sink at his words. "Oh, okay."

"I'm sorry. Can I make it up to you when I get back? Let me take you out to dinner, my treat." He offered. Sophia pulled back, looking at me with wide eyes and a crazy smile.

"Yeah, of course. Let me know when you're back in town and we'll make plans. Be safe, okay?" I replied, staring confusedly at Sophia.

"I will. I'll text you later tonight." He stated, before hanging up.

"Wow." Sophia deadpanned.

"What?" I asked.

"Your face when he told you he couldn't make it to dinner tonight. You are into him so much more than I thought!" She giggled.

"What are you talking about? I mean, yeah, I'm disappointed. I like hanging out with Spencer, he's become a good friend to me." I replied, continuing to walk after she had stopped.

She jogged the few steps to catch up with me. "And he totally asked you out!"

My brow furrowed at her. "We have dinner all the time."
