Scrambling. Nothing but scrambling. The streets were littered with policemen and the atmosphere thick with anxiety. Civilians and houses were being searched, some were being questioned, and the more unruly ones were being detained for questioning.

The church was not excluded from this, matter of fact, many policemen had come to question Ruv, much to the others' dismay. Policemen and journalists alike tried to pry past the doors to speak to him, but Ruv had been behind the altar with Sarvente and another officer.

As they all chattered, Rasazy was peeking over the hallway, paranoid, struck by fear from all the policemen scattered around. She furrowed her brows in thought, grumbling a little as she watched Ruv tense and de-tense with every question asked.

Selever had grown concerned for his sister, reaching his hand to her shoulder. "Chaotic.." He worriedly whispered.

She only nodded, sighing sharply. "Papa didn't do it..." She wrinkled her nose in slight anger.

"Of course not! A kill that sloppy, much more, that quickly? No way!" He agreed, peeking over the hallway as well. "Hopefully this all--" He was cut off by a megaphone feedback.

"EVERYONE IS TO BE AT TOWN SQUARE BY 7:30PM FOR A SEARCH AND ROLL CALL!" An officer hollered from outside.

The children groaned. "That's an awful idea..." Selever facepalmed. "I like to think we're the only smart people on this block.."

Ras nodded, blowing a raspberry. God forbid something went wrong at the gathering... She watched the officers finally leave the church and her nerves calm down. She saw her parents approaching, Ruv looking furious and Sarv looking disappointed. Ruv had pushed past them without another word.

"What's his deal?" Selever asked, looking up at Sarv.

"Suspicions are on him, but they've agreed to stay out of eachothers' paths until more leads show up... It doesn't make sense, I tried to convince them otherwise but they wouldn't budge.." She somberly replied. "I can't blame him for being angry.. Hopefully the gathering tonight at town square won't make things worse." She said, sighing.

"We shouldn't go." Rasazy protested.

"We don't have a choice." Sarvente replied. "Look, if anything happens, just stay close together, don't trail off, stay by us." She warned pleadingly.

They exchanged glances, then hugged her tightly.

"Of course!"

"Yes ma'am." They chirped.

Even with apparent reluctance, the whole of the Old Skies town had attended the gathering. Gossips and bantering filled the darkened night sky, where the moon was new and the stars faint blue. Accusations were even being flung, sparking arguments like a drunk party, but luckily nothing physical.

As promised, Sarvente and her family had attended this gathering, all of them wearing their common attire. Every eye felt hot on their backs as they approached the Square, it flared their anxiety all over again.
