She furrowed her brows at the cold cloth, then grimaced, hunching her shoulders and hissing at the shock.

"Please don't fidget..." Selever frowned. "I know it sucks ass, but it's gotta be done..." He continued to rub the cloth on her back, right where the claw marks were.

This was a routine they'd follow daily. They would wake up early (or be awoken by Rasazy's terrified shouting) and carefully tend to her wounds. She had panicked, screamed and even hit anyone who tried to get anywhere close to her back, but was strangely tolerant and even clingy to Selever.

He would start by taking a cold, wet cloth and cleaning the claw marks on her back before wrapping them over with gauze and bandages.

He would then go to her head. The seizure from a few days ago did a lot more damage than they thought. While it was easy to manage, keeping an ice bag on the spot and checking any bruising or cuts and rebandaging, it was awful knowing that a part of her was lost in that fall.

She wasn't the same person, she had treated everyone as a different person. Some things were foreign to her, some things she didn't recognize, even people. She could barely look at her parents and see them as her own kin unless she was reminded. The only one she seemed to trust was Selever.

It seemed ever since that fall, she had nothing to say to anyone. She was said to have been repeating Selever's name and small phrases since her injury, but in the days after her fall, not a word came from her. It was always crying or fearful screaming. The fall seemed to have taken her voice as well.

This was nothing but bad news. How could they get a witness report from someone who couldn't speak? It had seemed hopeless, as if the town would slip back into confusion as the days went on and the people disappeared like flies.

Selever had finished tending to her head, then hesitantly moved down to her shoulder. He knew Rasazy hated this part...

Rasazy looked over at him pleadingly, tears already forming in her eyes. She knew she couldn't stop him however. All she could do was allow the tears to roll down her face and sob as Selever unwrapped the bandages from her shoulder.

The open wound had only healed a bit, as it had not been long since the injury itself. It was clean and soon going to be cauterized, but for now, it had still looked messily cut and needed cleaning and bandage replacements.

She sobbed silently as he had been cleaning it out again. She felt regret through every ounce of her body. She could have stopped this. She should have just followed what Sarvente said, maybe then she'd be... fine...

She felt stupid.

It only made her cry harder as she heard Selever hush her sweetly and rubbed her other shoulder, feeling fresh bandages being wrapped on tightly, making her flinch. She began whimpering to herself and the sobs only got louder.

Selever's heart twisted for her. "Ras... shhh... It's okay, you're okay..." He reassured. Once he was finished, he gave her a comforting peck on the cheek, then pulled her into a hug, rubbing her back lightly. He felt at fault for this, too. A simple tear rolled down his face as she sobbed into his sweater. It was like this every single day...

Volunteers and townies were all in the streets, checking corners, roundabouts, dumpsters and nearby parking lots for any leads. Each townie was required to have at least one chaperone and an officer to accompany them. This system was going smoothly, as trios would depart and return with even the smallest of leads.

Among these trios, were Ruv, Sarv, and an officer, much to Ruv's dismay. There was no doubt that the officer was skeptical of him, and he never trusted the officer either. Sarvente was the only one with a civil mind, making sure that nothing got aggressive.

As both the stickmen paced the streets, there was either complete silence or a snide remark. Nobody was getting anywhere but fed up in the process. Sarvente would watch as the thinly built officer would try to bring a lead, only for Ruv to blow him off. Or Ruv would try to get the officer to check somewhere, only to be met with needless suspicion.

Ever since Rasazy's injury, things didn't seem to get better. More and more people by the days accused him of now hurting his own daughter. It made him sick to his stomach. His outburst in front of the church didn't help either. Firing a gun at unarmed people was a very dumb thing to do when under accusation.

He had been held for multiple questionings beforehand, and the recent heat only made things worse. Every officer threatened him, making it known that he was not going to be let off lightly for his crimes in the past. It only made him furious, though they did have the peace of mind to let him go with chaperones if it meant he'd be able to assist the investigation.

He still had no reason to trust this one though, he was no different from the others, and he made sure to let him know that.

"Maybe we started on the wrong foot here..." Sarv nervously squeaked, watching the pair eye each other down. "Maybe we should reintroduce. Ruv, honey, you mind starting?" She asked, reaching out her hand.

He scoffed, looking away.

"Officer Ferris." The officer would say calmly, reaching out his hand in a handshake. "I heard what happened to your daughter.. I'm so sorry and I hope she will recover soon. We'll do our best to give her justice, but I need your cooperation." He explained, looking up at him.

Ruv hesitated, then slowly reached to shake his hand. "Ruv... Just call me Ruv..." He quickly withdrew his hand. "And thank you for your condolences... As long as you don't try to hurt or accuse either of us, I'll be willing to work with you... for her.." He furrowed his brows, determined. At this point, he'd even kill to get justice, even taking it a step out of comfort and spare someone.

"Glad we're in business then, Mr. Ruv!" Ferris chirped. "We'll be starting with the back alleyway over there. A lot of people sense eeriness when passing there." He pointed with his thumb.

"Great! We should get to searching then. We don't have long until the curfew." Sarvente chimed in, walking forward. "C'mon!" She encouraged them, Ruv and Ferris following suit.

"Nice lady." Ferris commented.

Ruv blushed. "Don't mention it." He stubbornly spat, quickening his pace to catch up with Sarvente.
