Amaryllis
I dug through my closet trying to find something to wear today. I had a tea date with Alexander in a few hours and I was excited.
I mean, I was nervous, yes, but I was also extremely excited at the fact that I finally found a cute guy that actually liked me back.
There was a knock at the door.
"Come in." I said occupied as I looked through my closet still. I could hear heels hit against the hardwood floor. I knew my father didn't wear heels and my mother definitely didn't wear them. Always said they made her feet look big.
I turned around to find Ms.Volan taking a seat on the edge of my bed.
"What are you doing in my house?" She smirked.
"I was looking for you dad but it seems like he's at work."
"It's obvious that he's not home. His car isn't in the driveway so why are you really here?" She stood up walking towards me.
"Your dad told me that you know about our relationship,"
"Relationship my ass. What you two have is more of a fling." I could tell that pushed one of her delicate little buttons because suddenly her smirk dropped and a flame in her eyes lit up.
"Look you brat, your father loves me and always loved me so I suggest you keep this out of your mom's ears and keep this to yourself or else."
"Love? Seriously? You actually think that gross old man actually loves you?!" I laughed louder. I actually found this funny.
"That man has no idea what love is! Plus, what are you gonna do? Throw a damn shoe at me?" I laughed even harder, which made her even madder.
She opened and closed her mouth, not being able to find the words to say. She stormed off out of my room and out of the house. I laughed like a madwoman.
I couldn't stop laughing until I saw the time. It was three-thirty in the afternoon and we decided to meet up at the coffee place around four.
"Shoot shoot shoot shoot." I kept chanting as I threw clothes around my room until I finally settled on some baggy jeans and a blue oversized sweater. I quickly finished getting ready and dashed out the door to find my mother getting out of her car.
"Woah honey calm down. Where are you going?" I stopped running and looked at her then down at my watch.
Three forty it read.
"I um I'm going out for tea with Marcy." I lied. It hurt lying to her but I had to. She's always warned me about getting feelings for a boy. She always told me how dangerous it was. Both emotionally and physically. But Alexander was different.
"Isn't she coming to pick you up then?" I hesitated as I thought about what to say.
"Um no we decided to meet up there, which I'm about to be late, so I really have to get going, mom." I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and speed-walked towards the little coffee shop. Thankfully it wasn't too far so I wasn't too tired by the time I arrived.
Alexander
I was nervous. Probably, more than nervous but I couldn't think of a term for it. My hands were sweaty and my leg wouldn't stop shaking. I looked down at my watch and saw that it read three fifty-eight.
I knew I was early since we agreed to meet up here at four but I couldn't help myself. I was too excited and couldn't wait to see her. Every time the coffee house door opened I looked up hoping it was her. So many people have walked in but none of them were her.
I could see a group of girls sitting at a booth near me looking at me and whispering. I looked their way and smiled. I drank some of my tea and waited. I could hear footsteps walking my way. Once they stopped I looked up to find one of the girls from the table.
She was pretty, but nothing compared to Amaryllis.
"Hi. I was sitting over there with my friends and I think you're really cute and I'm pretty sure you think I am too since you smiled at me but um can I have your number?" Wow. Bold.
"I'm sorry but I'm actually with someone." She smirked.
"But there's no one here." I was about to respond when arms wrapped around my neck lightly and a chin was laid on my head.
I could tell who was by the scent of her hair which was hanging around me.
Amaryllis.
"I'm sorry kid but he's with me so why don't you go back with your little high school friends and leave us alone." The girls scoffed and walked away.
Amaryllis let go of me and walked to her seat in front of me.
She smiled. I loved her smile. It always lifted my mood when I saw it. My mood always lifted just thinking about her.
"Hey, sorry I kept you waiting."
"No, it's okay. For a second I thought you weren't coming." I laughed nervously as I scratched the back of my neck.
"I would never do that you know." I reached out for her hand and held it in mine.
"I know you wouldn't." She smiled at me so sincerely. There was an unreadable emotion in her eyes that I craved to know
Amaryllis
We talked for hours upon hours that we didn't notice they were closing until one of the workers told us we had to leave. We ended up going to a nearby park and walking around for a while.
He looked down at his watch several times. I was starting to think he wanted to leave.
"You don't have to stay if you don't want to." He looked down at me and smiled. He wrapped his arms around me and laid his chin on the top of my head.
"I don't want to leave but I have to. Leaving my mother alone for so long worries me." I raised an eyebrow.
"Why worry?" I could tell he was hesitating to tell me.
