Alexander
I dropped her off at her house. Her house was beautiful. It made me wish I lived in a place like this.
For some reason, she didn't want me coming inside, which I respected. I guess her parents were already asleep seeing as it was practically midnight.
I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling thinking about Amaryllis. Ever since I met her I haven't been able to forget her and I didn't want to forget her.
The phone rang beside me. I picked it up.
"So, how was it?" It was Connor.
"Amazing. She met my mom." Connor was silent.
"She what?" He knew I didn't bring many girls home let alone introduce them to my mom. My mom didn't like many people even though she was the nicest person.
"And? What'd your mom say?" I smiled.
"She loved her. They talked alone together for a while and when I got back they were both crying." I wondered why. I know my mom said they were just having a heart to heart but for some reason, I felt like it was something bigger.
"That's good. The girl you love gets along with your mom. Could life get any better for you?" I laughed.
"I wouldn't say I love Amaryllis." Maybe I did love her. I don't know.
"Oh, trust me you love her Alexander. It's obvious. The way your eyes sparkle when you talk about her and the smile you get when you think about her. You love Amaryllis." I stayed quiet. He was right.
She might not be in love with me but I sure am in love with her.

Amaryllis
I sat at the dining table eating my breakfast alone.
It was Sunday so my father didn't work but he wasn't in the house so I'm guessing he's next door.
As for my mother, she was wasted when I came home last night so she's sound asleep upstairs.
As I finished my breakfast, I grabbed my bag and headed to the library. The library was like my second home. I've been coming here since I was a little kid. My parents used to bring me here as a child. Well, back when they still cared and our family was still together.
I entered and went straight to the young adult aisle. I searched and searched and searched and searched but it seems like every book spine I looked at I had already read. I huffed and chose just to re-read one.
I grabbed whichever book I touched first and sat at my regular table. Just as I opened the book to read it someone sat in front of me. I looked up but didn't recognize the man sitting there.
I just looked at him for a while waiting.
"You look just how he describes you." I raised an eyebrow.
"Who?" At this point, I could care less about who this guy was. I wanted to know who was talking about me.
"I should probably introduce myself first." He stretched his hand out for me to shake.
"I'm Connor, Alexander's best friend. He was right when he said you were beautiful but that friend of yours, Marcy, now she's a looker." So this was the famous Connor.
I put my hand in his and gave it a quick shake.
"Hi, I'm Amaryllis but I'm guessing you already know that." He nodded and laughed.
"How could I not. You're all he talks about at this point." I blushed.
"Anyways, how do you know Marcy?" He smiled and I swear I saw him blushing a bit.
"She came to my record shop awhile back and Alexander introduced her to me." I nodded.
We stayed quiet for a while. Neither of us knew what to say.
I started reading, completely ignoring his presence until he cleared his throat and spoke. I closed my book and looked up at him.
"So, how are things going with you and Alexander? He told me you guys were going out again later tonight to the carnival." I blushed just thinking about him.
"Everything is going great. I couldn't imagine being with someone else other than Alexander." He smiled as I did.
"Trust me when I say he does too." I looked down as I blushed and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and just smiled.
He took a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to me. I opened it and saw his number written on it.
"Give it to Marcy. Tell her that her knight in shining armor has arrived." He smirked as he stood up and left the library.
I stared at the piece of paper and debated whether I should give it to her or not. But, she is always complaining about not having a boyfriend and this guy seems very interested so I might as well.
I kept reading my book until I finished it a good two hours later. I was oddly crying a little after reading it. But, who could blame me, it's just one of those kinds of books I guess.
I put the book back from where I got it and took out the piece of paper Conner gave me and kept it in my hand that way I won't forget to give it to Marcy when I reach her house. I decided to spend the rest of the day with her. Well, up until I had to go meet with Alexander at the carnival entrance.
As I reached her house I could see her dancing through her bedroom window. She loved music and dancing but oddly was too scared to pursue it professionally. Her dancing skills were mind-blowing. She has never taken a dance class in her life yet was so good.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. I mean, Marcy was a beautiful girl plus she got high marks all throughout high school plus she's talented. I could only dream of ever being that smart and talented.
But, I never told her this. I felt as if it just wasn't important enough to say. I knew that she would try her best to find something good to say about me to make me feel better but I would be able to tell that she was only doing it out of pity.
I sighed as I reached her front door and rang the doorbell. I could hear the music turn off and footsteps pounding against the hardwood floor.
The door swung open and there stood my beautiful best friend. I smiled. She was out of breath from the dancing she was doing earlier.
