Veronica smiled to herself as she wandered around the apartment. It was the 5th apartment she had seen in the week and this time she was sure she found her place.
It was a 2 bedroom apartment with a small bathroom. The kitchen was so small, it would probably make the professional chef in her father want to die but the living room was perfect. She was already planning on buying another armchair to go with the couch where she could laze around and spend her free days binging on pizza and alcohol. The place was just 5 mins away from the hospital which was a major plus in her book.
" So how much rent for this place?" she asked approaching the owner of the place who was a short healthy woman with a wrinkled face probably from smiling too much.
Right now however she had a frown on her face as she checked her watch for the 5th time. Vee knew she was waiting for the other guy who was also supposed to come and see the apartment.
Raising her head the lady smiled at her and opened her mouth to speak, as the door of the apartment opened and a figure stalked in apologising, A figure, Veronica was surprised to say she recognized.
"I am SO Sorry. The hospital held me back?"
"ALEX?" Veronica asked.
It had been a few weeks since Alex had caught her crying in the on-call room and since he had been reassigned to Bailey and the two had grown closer. Alex acted like an ass to everyone but he would be just a little bit nicer to Veronica. Veronica was the only one who didn't immediately write him off, the only one who made an effort to look beneath his bad boy exterior. Nobody else understood their relationship. They weren't friends but they were still more than just co-workers. The two were surprisingly a lot similar. Neither of them liked to express their emotions, neither of them liked to depend on others. Both of them thrived in solitude, yet they somehow found comfort in each other finding it surprisingly easy to trust the other.
"Veronica? what are you doing here? Don't you already have a place??" Alex asked her.
"No I was still living at the hotel and I just cannot live there anymore. Go away I was here first."
"You mean you still haven't bought it? That means it's fair game." Alex smirked as both of them rushed to the landlord begging to let them get it.
"Why don't you both share?" asked the lady seemingly already tired of the two. "No offense to you but you both seem young. So I doubt you would be able to manage the rent yourselves and it appears you two already know each other."
Alex and Vee looked at each other contemplating the lady's words before reaching a silent mutual decision.
"Alright." "Yeah okay."
"good. So you guys can come down to my place and sign the documents. I will need identity proof. You can move in as soon as you pay the first 2 month rent in advance. " She cheers happily before walking out .
Both of them smirk at each other.
"Hopefully I won't regret this " Veronica mutters as she follows the landlady already knowing she won't.
Alex saying the same thing following her.
