7. (s2, after e6)

Veronica was tired. She had lost her patient, Bonnie today and they could do nothing to save her. They couldn't even try. The interns had been called back after a 36 hour shift to deal with casualties of a train accident. Now, after most of the patients had been treated they had an hour before their next shift.

So she was looking for an empty on call room to sleep.

As if being tired wasn't enough she had noticed Alex acting weird for the past two days. He had been overly rude and defensive.

So when she saw Alex sitting in the on call room studying instead of sleeping she was concerned.

"Alright what's wrong with you?" she asked as she sat on the bed opposite him.

"Nothing what do you mean?" he asked as he highlighted something.

"This!" she said pointing to him. "Since when do you study? And what with Izzie and you? You were so excited for the date but you didn't even kiss her?"

"Yeah so? There's nothing wrong with studying. And I wasn't feeling it for the kiss." he says defensively , avoiding her eyes.

"You weren't feeling it?" she scoffed. "Alex's, you are literally the horniest guy I know." she says making him raise an eyebrow at her.

"Look who's talking"

"Okay we are not talking about me. This is about you." She says immediately. "Whatever it is, you know you can trust me right?"

He sighs. "Fine. I failed my intern exams okay? I retake them in less than four months. And if I fail I won't be an intern anymore." he looks down.

There's a moment of silence, before he looks at Veronica "What? Aren't you gonna laugh?"

Her eyes soften as she leans forward and takes his hand "I am going to help you study and you are gonna pass." she says determined as Alex looks at her.

"You don't know that." his eyes tear up

"I do. I will make sure of it." she tells him.

Alex looks at her grateful to have a real friend for the first time in his life. Though he won't say it, it's clear on his face and anyone can see how important Vee really is to him.
