"Morning Dad." Veronica says as she sits down on the table.

It was thanksgiving and the Cameron family had their own tradition. Paul Cameron was a chef and owner of a well-known 5 star restaurant , for whom thanksgiving was one of the biggest day. SO, instead of dinner they would eat breakfast together on video call.

This year was no different. Though Izzie had wanted Veronica along with the other interns at their place in the morning Veronica had simply refused. She planned on going there around noon but she was going to spend the morning with her family.

"Morning honey. Happy Thanksgiving !" her dad smiled as he too had his own breakfast in front of him. Like Veronica. he was also already dressed for the day.

"Happy Thanksgiving my lovely family!" her brother Noah dramatically said as he joined the call. He on the other hand looked like he had just rolled out of bed with his messy hair, and an old worn T-shirt which , Veronica was pretty sure, used to belong to their dad once.

Noah was Veronica's older brother. He was always happy. He was the spontaneous and crazy sibling who loved living life and trying new things. This is why he had decided to become a photographer and travel blogger. He was always on some new adventure in a new place. "Because life is an adventure Ronnie, and I want to live it.!!"he would say.

Veronica really admired her brother. He never let anyone else's opinions affect him and was so confident of himself.

"Morning" Veronica smiled looking at her brother. "So got any plans for the day?"

"I am gonna help out at the soup kitchen today. What about you dad?" Noah asks exchanging a glance with Veronica as the both look at Paul.

"Oh I am gonna be at my restaurant. Busy day today." he says

Since his wife Sarah had died, Paul had devoted his life to his restaurant. He never pulled away from his children but he pulled away from everything else. He hadn't even looked at another woman. Despite how romantic Veronica thought it was she couldn't help but worry. Both of his children worried about their father being alone in the big house. They wanted him to find someone to love.

"Oh don't look at me like that. I am fine." Paul admonished as he saw his children look worried for him. "What about you Ronnie? Got any plans?"

"yeah my friend Izzie invited us to her place for thanksgiving. I am not sure everyone is gonna go but I will be going later." Veronica replies, wiping the frown off her face.

"That's nice. Are you taking something?" Paul asks, looking at her.

"Yeah I am baking a couple of pies."

"Tell me it's not apple pie." Noah comments

"As a matter of fact it is. And a blueberry and one banana pie."

"Aww man! I want apple pie. I miss your pies Ronnie." Noah groans.

Veronica had learnt how to cook from their dad. And she was alright at cooking but it was baking she really excelled at. And Noah loved his sisters baking. Especially the apple pies.

"Don't worry Noh. I will bake some apple pies for you next time we see each other " she promises and both wave their hands, pinkies outstretched in front of the camera.

"how's your internship going?" Paul asks, looking at his eldest.

"Its fine dad. I made some good friends, you might like them. Especially Alex, he's the guy I live with." she explains.

"That's good Ronnie" Paul says, "I am proud of you."

"I also saw Richard again. And Adele." she quietly says and the men grow serious looking at her carefully.

"How did it go?" Noah asks.

"It went well. I mean Richard is the chief. I see him practically every day and Adele, well I only saw her once."

"I bet they look old now." Noah jokes trying to ease the tension and it worked as the three laughed.

That's how the three spend their morning laughing and joking with each other. They might not be close to each other physically but they were the closest they could be emotionally.

Veronica smiles to herself as she looks at her dad and brother joking with each other. They might not be family by blood but they were her family by heart. and that's all that matters. That's why she liked thanksgiving, others might make fun of it or not like it. But these days reminded Veronica what she had to live for. Veronica thanked whatever deity it was that gave her these idiots to love. Having experienced the bitter side of life, Veronica could confidently say that the sweeter side was worth it.

That night Veronica went to sleep with a smile on her face. After spending time with her family she had gone by Mer's house and helped Dr Burke and Izzie cook dinner. She had spent some time with Joe and met his boyfriend, Walter. The other interns had sneaked out like she had suspected but they had all come back in time for dinner, well except Meredith. They had a great time at dinner, and everyone loved her pies.
