I was enveloped in complete and utter darkness. No sound, no warmth, and nothing other than pure black.
What day was it? How long have I been here? What happened? Where is everyone?
All these questions swirled around in my head until a warm feeling enveloped my whole body and I saw orange yellow and red petals drifting in front of me.
What's happening?
I closed my eyes and eased into the warm feeling, having noticed it reminds me of Deidara. I exhaled and immediately jolted up, a shock shooting through my entire body.
My eyes snapped open immediately, suddenly being all to aware of what conspired only a few minutes ago. "Riku?" I asked, looking around freaking out.
I was sitting in the grass, my hoodie covering almost nothing of my body but enough so it was acceptable. My shorts are slightly torn at the seams.
I looked around to a large group of people on the left of me and Riku as well as tons of trees on my right.
I felt a chakra signature disappear and a familiar one reappear.
I fell backwards when I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Again I was painfully reminded of my injuries.
I started to try and breathe differently to not hurt myself but my chest and lungs ended up just hurting even worse.
Sweat, dirt, and blood still covered me, caked onto my face, arms, legs, and clothes. I looked to my left and soon could recognized some of the men and women of the group that I grew up around.
Then it clicked as I spotted the redhead jinchūriki again.
This boy is Gaara of the sand, the same boy who Riku fell in love with and the same boy who i desperately tried to become friends with when i first met him.
All the sudden blondie helped revive Gaara and hundreds of sand nin surrounded him. Wow he's grown so much since I last saw him... I cant belive he's already become Kazekage.
Time seemed to pass by quickly as everyone turned from celebratory to saddened. Riku was waking up now and she turned her head around to see what was going on.
"Haven't seen us yet" I whispered to her, noticing we were next to trees and rocks blending into the surrounding area.
She saw Gaara alive and her mood brightened instantly but soon seeing Lady Chiyo her mood also dropped.
I looked over and realized. She was the missing chakra signature.
"No. D-did she?" I asked, turning my head to Riku.
She nodded sadly and I sat up slowly so as not to hurt myself further, yet by now I should have realized everything I do will hurt.
She sat up and we leaned against a tree, me laying my head on her shoulder and her laying her head on mine.
We watched as everyone passed us by. Some started talking to the blonde and I didn't pay attention until Kakashi stopped speaking.
"Yeah, just like lord third," the blonde said. My head shot up some as the memories of my having to watch his death and not being able to stop it ran through my head.
