JINX'S POV

I got off the bus at our hometown.

Jinx: "I'm baaack."

I walked down my street and stopped outside my old house.

Jinx: "Heh... no one's lived here after all this time... Alright... let's get started."

I spent the next few hours peeking through every window in every house. Until I finally found him living alone in a small house a couple blocks away.

Jinx: "Found you."

It was at this moment, the nerves kicked in. But I pushed them down.

Jinx: "Focus, Jinx. You're one step closer to ending this and going back to Nanba."

I looked over into the front yard and saw the mailbox was slightly tilted. I walked over and tried to pull it out of the ground. It was already loose so a few tugs, and it was out.

Jinx: "Nice, now I have a melee weapon. Now... how to get in..."

I walked to the front door. It had a peeper hole, so I knocked and then put my back against the wall next to the door.

Damien: "Hello?"

I could hear him open the locks. When opened the door, the second he stuck his head out, I hit it with the mailbox. He was now down on the floor, bleeding from the head.

Jinx: "Oh shit... I might have done it a little too hard."

I kicked him to make sure he was still alive. He stirred.

Jinx: "Good."

I couldn't help but smile at his unconscious body.

Jinx: "What a sight for sore eyes."

I dragged him into the house and locked the door.

Jinx: "Do my eyes deceive me? Is that a basement? Hmm... dare I do the cliché?...... Yeah."

I opened the door and dragged him down the stairs. I found a chair and some rope so I sat him in the chair and tie him to it. I then headed back upstairs to the kitchen and started rooting around in the drawers. I found a big sharp knife, similar to the one I used long ago.

Jinx: "Perfect."

I went back downstairs, stood behind him, my back against the wall and waited... Until finally, he woke up.

Damien: "What the hell?! What's going on?!"

I walked up behind him and grabbed his hair to keep him facing forward.

Jinx: "Guess who."

Damien: "Look, I- I don't know who you are..."

His voice was shaky.

Damien: "Just... take my money... I'll give you the code to my safe-"

Jinx: "Do I seem like a common thief to you? No. You don't know who I am? Fine. I'll give you a hint."

I held the knife in front of his face.

Jinx: "You once had parents... and two sisters... am I right?"

Damien: "Shit... Jinx?"

I let go of his hair and went around him so he could see me.

Jinx: "Bingo! Right on the money! Hello, Damien. Long time no see."

He stared at me.

Jinx: "I know. I've grown a lot since you last saw me, haven't I?"

Damien: "H-how are you here? Y-y-you were sent to Nanba."

Jinx: "Yes I was. And I plan to go back there, so let's not make this take all night."

Damien: "So wh-what are you doing here?"

Jinx: "Oh, Damien..."

I held up the knife.

Jinx: "I thought that'd be obvious."

It satisfied me to see him so frightened.

Damien: "Y-y-you-you're going to kill m-m-me?"

Jinx: "Ding ding ding! Right again, jackass!"

Damien: "Why?"

I stared at him, my fury rising.

Jinx: "Why?... WHY?! You have the balls to ask me WHY?!"

As I held the knife to his throat, he started crying.

Jinx: "I was a child... I was a little girl... innocent! Never did anything to you! Yet, what did you do to me, Damien? WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

Damien: "I'm sorry-"

Jinx: "NO! You're not... you're not sorry at all. I bet everything that if you had the chance, you would have done it all over again! TELL ME I'M WRONG!!"

Damien: "..."

Jinx: "Thought so...... I was ready to kill you all that night. Yet, you were the one who ran out the back... like a gutless coward!"

Damien: "What did you expect me to do?! I didn't want to die!"

Jinx: "YOU DESERVED TO DIE!!"

Damien: "..."

Jinx: "You know... maybe you could have lived longer if you hadn't been stupid enough to come visit me and tell me your location."

His eyes widened.

Jinx: "What was it you said? 'I have to walk past that murder house every day'. That told me you were still in the neighbourhood."

I grabbed his hair and made him look me in the eyes.

Jinx: "Well, times up for you. I want my face to be the last thing you see. Oh, I suppose I'm supposed to ask... any last words?"

Damien: "... I'll see you in hell!"

Jinx: "... You'll be there a long time before I show up... Sweet dreams, asshole."

I slit his throat while looking directly in his eyes. He was dead in no time. I let go of his hair and his head went limp. I stuck my middle finger up at the corpse.

Jinx: "Say hi to Raven and our parents for me."

I threw down the knife and went back upstairs. I pick up the phone and dialled the emergency number.

Operator: "What's your emergency?"

Jinx: "Yeah, I just killed a man. Here's my location..."

Jesse Waldock: "Murder is in fact frowned upon in most societies. Please don't try this at home... or anywhere."
