Chapter 21

Yelling. Someone was yelling loudly and it sounded horrified. Why was it so loud? There were so many voices and everything was too loud. I heard a familiar voice and then the yelling stopped. My foggy mind latched onto the voice and tried to focus on it pulling my mind back to the sound. Strange noises came from
my throat. I only knew it was coming from me when I felt the rumble in my chest. Then the familiar voice spoke close to my ear and I immediately knew it was kellan.

"Elliot," he was still yelling slightly and I flinched

I tried to open my eyes, but they were so heavy.

" open your eyes damn it !" Kellan yelled closer to me now.

I really wanted to, I wanted to look at him More than anything, so I pushed past the excruciating pain. My eyelids opened slightly but I couldn't see anything, everything was blurry and looked like I was underwater. Tears, I realized, tears were blurring my vision but I couldn't blink, I couldn't close my eyes again yet or they may not open again. I forced them open a little more and tried to focus.

"Look at me and stay awake!"

"Alright we've got to move her now" a voice said a little further away

" She's either a sharp shooter or an incredibly lucky girl. She hit him right in the carotid" another voice added

My eyes finally focused on Kellan and he was crying and had a pained smile on his face. I'd never seen him cry, not since we were kids. I tried to say something , to say anything but I couldn't find the ability to form words. So, I smiled, the best I could, back at him. Then I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer and the world went back once again.
