It's a windy (morning) afternoon

"...So you're finally acknowledging that you like him?"

"That's like the fifth time you've asked that! Yes, I think I might, ok?!" Firey replied.

The two had been one the phone for nearly an hour, half of it being spent trying to get Firey to finally explain why he'd even called.

When he did explain, Leafy wasn't too surprised it was on the very topic he'd been so defensive about earlier. She surely didn't expect him to have dreamt about it though. 'I guess he does have a whole notebook of dreams for a reason.'

"...Are you going to do anything about it?" Leafy finally inquired.

"No!! He and Pin are together, and the whole mortal enemies thing still exists!"

"Ok, ok! No need to yell." Leafy sighed and wrote a note atop her homework reminding her what question she was on. "So you're just going to let your feelings fester until they go away? That doesn't seem healthy."

"Do I have any other choice?"

"...I guess not." Leafy sighed. "I gotta run, you probably should too, school starts in less than an hour."

She heard shuffling from the other side of the phone and whatever show Firey had been playing in the background was silenced. "Alright, see you there." Leafy could tell he was going to spend the rest of the day sulking through his classes instead of paying attention, but what could she do.

The phone beeped signaling that the call had been ended, and Leafy went downstairs to grab her shoes and bike to school once more.

'Pff, if only I could tell Pin about this.'

Firey got to school early again, but figured it'd probably be smart to not spy on Coiny after everything yesterday. Especially with his not-so-newfound feelings for the other.

He instead choose to hangout in the courtyard and maybe try reading the book Leafy had found in her closet and decided to lend to him. Firey wasn't much of a reader, but there wasn't much else to do before the first bell rang. He sat under a tree with sunlight peaking through the branches enough to illuminate his surroundings.

Firey opened the book and was going to skim the summary, only to glance up as the sun was blocked by a tall figure.

"Pin? uh, what's up...?" Firey lowered the book and watched as Pin went to lean on the tree besides him.

"Oh nothing much. Whatcha reading?" she replied non-chalantly.

'I don't trust this' "Oh uh.. just a novel Leafy lent me. She says it's interesting for... whatever genre it is." Firey looked back down at the book as he felt Pin's gaze harden.

"Really? I think I've seen that one in the library, how about you?"

'Does she know? That would mean Coiny knows. Oh no.' "I don't visit the library all that often... only to pick up study material really."

Pin suddenly laughed. "Dude, I'm just messing with you! Don't be so finicky." She lent down and sat besides the other. "You think I could borrow that after you? I mean, I'll probably have to ask Leafy but still."

Firey narrowed his eyes, it was a weird request considering he hadn't said anything good about the book, but he supposed it couldn't hurt. "Yeah, you could have it now if you want. I'm not really all that interested in reading."

"Really? Don't you want to try some of your girlfriend's hobbies?" There was a hint of suspicion in Pin's voice.

"I'm dyslexic?? Why're you prying so much anyway." Firey replied, not before closing the book and handing it to the interrogative red-head.

Pin held up her hands in defense. "No reason." She took the book and observed the cover. "Y'know, this looks similar to an anime Coiny's watched."

Firey's cheeks dusted pink, and just when I'd started to forget about all of that... "oh, he watches anime? What ones?"

Firey didn't mean to ask that, but before he could dismiss it Pin had already started listing a few.

"Hmm... Assassination Classroom, Ace Attorney, Saiki K, He cried a lot over this one called 'Banana Fish'... There's a few more, but that's probably too much to remember."

Pin looked oddly sly, but Firey couldn't pay attention to that. He was instead frantically trying to repeat the list in his head to maybe check out later.

"Oh uh... alright." Firey spoke, the leaves above the two rustling in the wind.

Pin stood and dusted herself off. "Well, I'm gonna get to class. See you first period." With a final smirk, she turned and left to the entrance of the school. Leaving Firey confused over the entire interaction.

He brushed it off as just Coiny's peculiarities rubbing off on her, and went to write the names of the animes on his arm in marker so he wouldn't forget them.
