The new babies

I open my eyes slowly to the two babies in my arms. 9 hard months of caring them around and they are finally here. I am so happy. It may not look like I am that happy, but trust me, I am.

One is a girl and one is a boy. Zach is filling out the paperwork right now. There names are Izzy and Jack. Izzy is 7 pounds 5 oz and came first. Jack is 6 pounds 8 oz and came last. Exactly 10 minutes apart. I finally have my own family that I can love and take care of.

I closed my eyes again and laid my head back. I took a deep breath and exhaled. I am so glad that was over.

"Hello, Kayla. I was just checking up on you. I think you need some rest, I'll take the babies from here," the nurse smiled.

"Thank you," I said with a yawn.

She gently lifted the babies and put them in their little cribs. I leaned back and started to go to sleep.

I woke up to see that I was still in the hospital. It was dark now and Zach was on a chair sleeping. I smiled a little bit and searched for my phone. It was on the nightstand next to me.

My phone was blowing up on twitter. At least 20 tweets every second. They were all very nice saying stuff about the babies. It looks like Zach kept them updated, or at least the few things that were important.

I checked the time and it was 1:20 in the morning. No wonder it was so dark outside. I tried to sit up and a sharp pain landed on my stomach.

I adjusted myself and took a sip of water. I heard some shuffling and I looked over to see Zach streching.

" Sorry, did I wake you?" I asked quietly

"I was about to ask you the same question," he chuckled back. " how are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm fine, my stomach hurts though," I made a pouty face.

"Well that is supposed to be that way. Does it hurt a lot?" He asked.

"No, just when I try to sit up," I said. He got up and went towards me. He held my hands and smiled.

"You will be better in no time. And then we get to raise our kids... together," he was definitely fit to be a dad. I smiled as he went on talking.

"We finally get to make a new beginning. We can start over and forget about the bad things and make sure Izzy and Jack have the best lives they can," I smiled even more."You should probably go to bed, the nurse will be here at 7:00 to see how you are doing," he yawned.

" I'm not tired though. I have been sleeping for so long. Can you hand me my bag so I can write for a little while?"

"Sure, you can't stay up too late though," he yawned again and went to get my bag. He handed it to me and went back to the chair. He passed put within a few minutes.

I am writing a third book to my story. It is going really well so far. After this book, I think I will make a new series. It will be great and just as good.

After a few hours, sleepiness finally caught up to me. I never realized how comfortable the beds are.

The morning was slow and the pain started getting worse. The nurse handed me some aspirin and I felt much better. I got to see the babies too and that will always make me happy. Zach started playing with them and they smiled and giggled.

The nurse said I should be on my feet in a few days and take the babies with me. They passed all of the tests and they are very healthy.

I'm so excited to bring my babies home. We still need to set up the room though. We painted the guest room and sold the bed. We also put the cribs and a few toys. All we need to do now is a few touch ups.

" Knock Knock," a familiar voice came from t he door. It was Dalton and his girlfriend. He smiled and walked towards the bed."How are you today Mrs. Kayla?"
Energetic as always.

"I am doing great. How are you?" I smiled.

" Well, I am doing just fine, thank you," he said.

" Awe! Babies!!!!" Chloe smiled. She walked over to Izzy and lifted her in the air. Izzy giggled and moved her fat arms.

" We can't just grab Kayla's babies!" Dalton said.

"Sorry, where are my manners," she gently put Izzy back to her crib.

" It's okay, go ahead, she wasn't sleeping. I think she really likes you," I smiled. Chloe smiled and tickled Izzy's tummy.

Dalton went over to Jack and asked if he could hold him. I nodded and he rocked Jack. Zach got up and went to my side. I still had all the book paged around me.

"How are you holding up?" He asked.

"I'm fine. Just like when you asked me 5 minutes ago," I chuckled.

"I am just making sure you are comfortable," he replied back.

"I really appreciate that," I smiled and went back to writing my book.

Dalton came over with Jack in his arms. Jack was giggling and moving his fat arms up and down. I couldn't help but laugh at how cute they are.

"I hope when I have babies, they will be this cute and fun to play with," I laughed and Dalton made some funny faces that got Jack excited again.

" Thank you, I am glad we have happy babies instead of babies who always cry," I said honestly.

I played with the babies some more until the medicine made me tired again. This medicine is great for taking care of the pain but it makes me so tired. I wrapped up in the hospital blanket and passed out. Zach made sure I wasn't bothered any until I awoke again.
