When I got here this morning Dalton and Zach were talking and they stopped when they saw me. It is probably nothing.
" There she is! The UFC fighter. I still can't get over what I saw. Those moves had to be practiced," Zach was more curious than he was in shock.
" What did you do exactly?" Dalton asked.
"Well it was just a dude who messed with the wrong person," I sat down between them and looked at Dalton.
" Ha, yea you showed him. You are lucky you didn't pop it out of place. In one quick movement he was on the floor holding his elbow," he still seemed fascinated by the whole thing.
" Well not to sound rude or anything, but I would have popped his arm out of place. This was on school property and I didn't want to pay any hospital bills," they looked completely blank at me.
" Well damn Kayla, sounds like he won't be messing with you again," Dalton looked down at the ground.
" Well that was the plan. I wasn't going to let him get away with shit moves. Dalton I don't want you to be scared of me," Zach didn't seem phased at all which was good, but Dalton seemed scared.
" Ha, Scared? Yea right. It just seems that you are a little too strong for your own good," he looked up at me now, trying to hold a fake smile. He'll forget about it. I just thought that he wouldn't mind at all since it was self defense.
" Well it wasn't like I had a protective childhood," I looked up at Dalton and Zach who had questioning looks on their faces. Great, just perfect. I tried to shrug it off like I didn't know why they would be questioning just a phrase.
" What do you mean by that?" Zach asked. He had a worried look on his face.
" Did something happen? Do you want to talk about it? I just want to know what happened. Please I'm here for you," those questions were buzzing in my head non- stop.
"Well no one really has a perfect life," I said trying to make the subject blurred. I never like lying to people but I need to.
"Well why would you be trained to fight like that if you had a 'normal' childhood?" Dalton asked.
"I know some people don't like talking about it but if you don't, it will hurt you in the future. We can help," Zach smiled putting a hand on my knee. I smacked his hand away and stood up,
"I don't need any help. I think it would be best if we didn't talk to each other anymore," both boys looked heart broken. I ran to the bathroom with tears teasing to come out. "Ugh, why did I say that, I'm so stupid!" I tried to keep my voice low. There was no one in the bathroom at the time but I didn't want anyone outside to hear me.
Okay I need to pull myself together. School will be starting soon so I have to stay calm. Take a deep breath. You will be fine. I walked back out there, trying to find Dalton and Zach and apologize. I found Dalton and Zach almost immediately. They looked so sad. The guilt feels like a knife stabbing me in the heart. I sat back between them and gave them a hug.
" I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have done that. It's just a sensitive subject. I can tell you what happened but on my own terms," they looked at me with a serious face.
" We don't want to do anything you're uncomfortable with. We pushed you too far and I will try and understand that not everything should be talked about. Especially someone you just met. We are really sorry," Zach said. He really meant the apology. That's nice that they respect me enough to do it on my terms. I didn't want to tell them but I don't want to leave them hanging there.
" Can we meet at my house and then we'll talk. From now on I won't lie to you," Zach and Dalton put there happy faces back on and quickly tried to change the subject.
" GIVE ME YOUR NUMBER!" Zach said very loudly. He whipped out his phone and pressed the contacts app.
" Give me your number too," Dalton said in a less loud voice.
I gave them both my numbers and told them to text me.
" Oh I completely forgot. I have to leave early to do stuff," I said. I completely forgot I had to train the new recruits.
" Oh really?" Dalton and Zach said in unison.
" I have to train the new recruits in the CIA and FBI groups. Someone's gotta do it. It's funny because most of the males say they don't hit girls and then they try and fail," Dalton and Zach had their mouths wide open.
" Wait, wait, wait, wait. You're training the FBI AND the CIA?" Dalton asked astonished.
" Yep so if you see any bruising just know that it doesn't hurt and there's nothing to worry about," I said in a calm voice.
" Wait BRUISING?!" Zach is really loud.
" Well yea, I train them in the physical field. I'm the only one that can handle it and always win," I said proudly.
" B-b-but," they said in unison.
" Its okay. I'll be fine. That's what medicine is for. No need to worry," I said. I hugged them once more because they still looked really worried.
The bell schreeched at us. We all got up, talking about random subjects, trying to keep everything light.
