I went to the office around 12:45 saying I was leaving at 1 and would be gone the rest of the day. She said she remembered and told me to get my stuff. I headed to my locker and emptied my stuff into my back-pack.
I always get nervous training with other people. Usually about now I'm wondering if it's a good idea, but inside I know everything will be fine. I headed back to the office to say goodbye and headed to my bike. Time to teach the new recruits how it's done. Hopefully it will run smoothly.
******skipping ride there******" Kayla you're always right on time," Caitlyn said. Caitlyn is the main person around here she usually helps me set up and jog my memory of the important stuff.
She helped me out with my emancipation papers so I could have a house and go to school instead of being at an adoption center. I lived at her house until about 16. Then, I had enough money to buy a house and take care of myself.
" Ugh it's always felt like 20 extra minutes pass. So how are you?" I said wrapping my arms around her.
" Good. The recruits are the best in their college class so I think we should train them a skill level higher," she said hugging me back.
" Awesome, at least they have some experience," I said heading toward the locker area.
I have a locker so when I come over, I can set my stuff somewhere.
" Alright so maybe teach them tackling and landing correctly and how to get the enemy's weapon easier. Stuff like that," Caitlyn showed me where the new recruits were being held and we led them to the training area.
I lined them up across the wall and introduced myself. I also explained what this training will start with and end with. Caitlyn said a couple words and we began.
" Alright, first in line please step forward," the first in line was a very muscular woman about average height.
I told her my plan and we started slow.
" Alright if you have any type of person that looks like they might cooperate you want to go for the nice approach. If that doesn't work you're going to have to use force. So where do you tackle?"
" Thigh area," she stood tall, confident with her answer.
" Correct so I'm going to put gear on and your going to tackle me," I went over to the side and put on the suit. Then I went just in front of the mat.
" Go," I said
She ran towards me with speed but she jumped too early, I moved out of the way before our bodies collided.
" Okay you jumped too early. You have to be at a momentum to stop and change directions if I go somewhere. The height was perfect and you landed safely. How about another try?" She stood back up and listened to every word very carefully.
" yes ma'am," she went back to position and so did I.
She ran just as fast but when I moved she jumped. That's what I was looking for.
" Very good, you kept the same momentum but you were focused. You jumped at the perfect time. You landed yourself and me very safely. Well done," I think this is gonna be easier than I thought.
We moved on to hitting and kicking a weapon.
" Okay if the opponent has a gun, move very swiftly and try to confuse the person. I would use my foot for guns or knifes. What you want to do is hit the gun in the inside of your foot. If you are much closer, grab the weapon the the top and and snap the gun away," I said. "If it's a knife, hit more at the hand area," I pointed around the area to kick. "Okay I'm going to get a fake wooden gun and we are going to try this," I went to the edge of the mat again and grabbed the fake gun.
" Okay once you kick the gun out of my hand, tackle me," I said. I pretended to point the gun at her and she slowly made an approach talking about a calm conversation. She went up and kicked it at a side angle, and then tackled.
" Very nice! The calm conversation was perfect and and your momentum was again perfect," she smiled and raised her chest a little higher.
"Alright, onto closer contact. Come closer," I said, raising the gun again. She came closer. "Alright so what you want to do is grab the gun and snap my hand away," I said.
She grabbed the top of the gun slowly and snapped my hand the wrong way. I thought for a moment before talking to her.
"Alright so usually you want your closest hand to reach for the gun. With the other hand, snap my hand this way, so my finger doesn't get caught. The force was perfect," I pointed it again at her and she still grabbed it with the other hand.
She snapped it away in an awkward position and that could cost her her life or someone else's. She still got the gun but in the wrong way.
"Okay, I know it might be a little awkward for your hand motions to grab it with this hand, but every moment counts. You don't want any awkward movements because as soon as the person with the gun realizes, they are going to shoot," I said. She nodded and got back into her stance. I pointed the gun back at her.
She grabbed the gun with the proper hand and snapped my hand with weak force. That's why she wanted to grab with the other hand. I nodded at her and told her to do it again. She grabbed again but snapped a little lower, almost to the middle of my arm.
"That's okay, you don't have to be professional at everything. You might want to do a few extra hand training skills with that hand. Other than that, that was perfect. Now we move on to the second drill," I said. "So you are going to take the gun from me and snap it and then, with that hand, yank me forward to a lock," she nodded and we moved back in position.
She grabbed the gun, snapped and didn't yank hard enough so I just fell to the floor.
"Make sure you get the power behind your authority. They need to know that you will not ever mess up and if you do, that is what you were supposed to do," she nodded and we went in the same position.
She nailed the power and I smiled. I nodded and she smiled too. We got in the same position and she did it again.
" Alright great job you may get your stuff and sit down over there," I pointed." Alright next!"
This went on for a couple more hours. Some were perfect and some didn't quite get it. I realized that not everyone has the same methods. So what I did, was used a different method and they got it automatically. I think these people are going to make great teams. I know there is still more sections but I felt proud of them.
******** skip to 5 o'clock ********I was really tired by the end of the training. I still had to say goodbye to the recruits and wish them all good luck. A lot of them already came over to talk to me, saying 'how old are you?' 'you have good methods' 'thanks, you made it easier to understand' stuff like that. I checked my phone and I had a couple different texts from Zach and Dalton.
" What time should I come over?"
" Don't get hurt too badly"
" What should I wear?"
Okay I knew that last one was for making me laugh.
" Come over at 6. I hope you like my puppy. And also wear pajamas XD"
I texted them both that and they replied with " okay XD ,"
I still can't figure out if this is a good idea telling them my childhood. Nonetheless, I guess I owe it to them. I don't want them knowing just a little bit and then start thinking about it. That is how people get paranoid and start asking questions that are out of their behavior. I think way to much about things like this.
I said goodbye to Caitlyn and to all of the recruits. Then, I got on my bike and headed home.
