Psalmist
I arrived in Lansing like three hours ago. I was hungry and tired as hell. The clock just turned eight-thirty. I had no idea what I was gonna eat or where I was gonna sleep. I only had enough to do one or the other. I went to the nearest motel and found a nice room for the night. In the morning, I'll look for work and find somewhere to stay.
Once I was settled in, I pulled out my phone to check my bank balance. I don't know why though because I knew it was empty. Once the balance screen popped up, I damn near lost my mind. That wasn't possible. How the fuck did I end up with twenty-seven million dollars in my account. I went to the recent transactions tab, and I saw two wire transfers; one for 7.8 million and the other for 19.2 million. That damn Damien, I thought.
I called him immediately. I forgot his cousin was our banker; so he could have easily moved that money. He answered on the second ring.
"You better have a damn good reason for waking me up," Damien said into the phone.
"Damien, what the hell is this!?" I yelled at him.
"Mist, what are you talking about?" He asked back.
"Damien, twenty-seven million dollars!!"
"I know, Mist, but listen to me. Where are you? Let me come get you so we can talk face to face."
"No, Damien. You listen to me, we are done. There's nothing more left for us. I can't believe I opened myself up to you."
"Misty, baby, I'm so sorry. I'm just dealing with some hard shit right now. That girl you saw me with is not my girlfriend. She's just an old friend who wanted to be there for me." Damien said to me.
He was so fucking stupid. He made me do things I would never do. I never cuss, but he has pissed me off to the max.
"Damien, I was there for you. Is this because I wouldn't sleep with you in Hawaii? I thought we had an understanding?"
While in Hawaii, Damien and I did get very close. We made out, but I was still nervous and scared to give myself to him. I was only comfortable with the kissing at the moment, but he seemed okay with that.
"This isn't about Hawaii, Mist. You did nothing wrong, baby, I swear. Please, just tell me where you are. I'll come to you. I can make this right." Damien pleaded.
"That's okay, Damien. We are done. I'm gonna send you this money back."
"No, you're not. I have already told Troy to deny any returns from you. The other clerks know to do the same. The money is yours. Wherever you are, take care of yourself."
Before I could respond, he ended our call. Well, I have enough money to not have to worry about anything. I definitely wasn't gonna go crazy though. I wasn't materialistic so that money would last me for a long time. I just don't know where I went wrong with Damien. However, I was glad to be far away from Charlotte. I couldn't risk Harper finding me.
