"You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged; but one word from you will silence me on this subject for ever."

― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice.

Author's note: I don't even know what to say, adulting is hard stuff. I wouldn't be here anymore if I were a reader so, if you still are, thank you. You're a true hero. Also, their reconciliation is not going to be that long (I think). This is really short.

(and it is all unedited btw)

Ömer

There was still hope. He knew there was. But had no concrete proof of it. Now he did.

 Now he did

Dolmas. She made him dolmas.

He really hadn't felt like eating that morning. Iso was gone back to his other home, his house felt empty again. And he was thinking about Sinan's idea of calling uncle Necmi. He was trying to avoid this as much as he could, but studying all of these reports in front of him, it would seem they would need to reach out. They did not have to call his uncle, per se, but it was the safest bet for the company and he would come to their aid a lot quicker than if they looked into other channels.

He could be proud and choose more difficult roads, but he had so many employees, so many people depending on them, people who believed in them and trusted them to succeed. So he would not be proud.

He made Sinan and Pamir promise not to tell aunt Neriman anything about Iso. She would know, eventually, just as he would forgive her. Even though she had to be sorry first, he knew now that forgiveness was really for him. For his own benefit, it's for him to let go of all the things that were eating up parts of him.

It took him a long time to realize that it takes a lot of effort to just be angry.

An entire year.

Of course, it's not easy, but he had to try. So he can be a better father. So that he doesn't become a hypocrite in the future. He understood Defne more than she thought. When you allow someone who hurt you back in your life, you give them a piece of you, and you hope they take care of it.

You have to trust. It's very simple and at the same time, really complicated. She was trusting him again, and he was working on giving his trust to people in his life.

His aunt and uncle would both be in his life again, those were just facts. He was a lot calmer now though and having a son did put things into perspective. Şükrü put a container in front of him and suggested he eat something so that he could think better and see things with a clearer eye. But he just didn't want to take a break yet.

'I will Şükrü abi, soon. You can leave it there, thank you.'

'Defne hanim made it!' He blurted out. Ömer raised his head to look at him and then back at the food.
