"To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life."

- Les Misérables, Victor Hugo.

author's note: thank you for all your kind words, truly. I tried to make this one more special. It may take me some time to write the next one cause I have to search some medical stuff, you'll understand when you get to the ending, x.

(still unedited, I may get fired for writing at work but the words were bugging me)

~*~ Later that same day ~*~

Ömer

Finished for that day, he marched towards the downstairs office space, searching for his Defne, for that's what she was.

Practically.

He just couldn't let her catch him saying it out loud and he'd be fine.

'Where the hell did you find this? Did you take this from Ms. Defne's office? Take it back, have you gone crazy?' He overheard Aytekin saying to another employee as he turned the corner to the hall that goes to Defne's office.

'She gave me this herself, told me to put someplace safe while she rearranges her shelves for both companies.'

Aytekin took the box and held it to his chest, 'Impossible, that can't be right! Allah Allah, how many times did she tell me to not mess with this box? It's been there for ages! Please take this back before I have a heart attack!'

Now he had to know what was in this mysterious box that belonged to Defne. He took a step forward toward them. 'What's this about? Why are you upset, Aytekin?'

Aytekin turned quickly in his direction and showed him a rectangular box. 'This is Defne's and it's personal, she keeps it close to her in her office so no one gets close to it. Then Burak took it and brought it here, trying to get me fired, I just got this promotion, Ömer bey!'

He put his hand up, trying to seem uninterested to get him to calm down and get the box, 'give it to me, I'll handle it.' But he resisted and Ömer got even more curious.

'I can't. Defne would kill me, Ömer bey. She is not the most stable person, you see. One time, she almost hit the accounting manager, it was not pretty let me tell you. But I'm not one to gossip, sir.'

He could barely hold on to his laugh. 'No, I can see that. I'll take good care of it, I promise. Don't worry. I'm looking for her anyway, I'll wait in her office.'

'All right, it'd be our little secret, then. Promise?'

'I promise, Aytekin. Is she in her office?'

'No, she's upstairs.'

'Aytekin, tell me something. You said this box is very important do Ms. Defne, huh?'

'Ooohh, she told me so only 50 times. I mean, if you didn't know Ms. Defne, you'd think she stole a diamond from a museum. I wonder what could be so important for her to keep it such a big secret.'

He wondered too. He barely closed her office door before deciding to go see what was inside. Of course, he was going to peek. He was gone a whole year. She shut him off as best as he could. He needed all the knowledge about her that he could get. If there was something she deemed important to her, he wanted to know about it.
