I woke up to a nurse giving me a death glare.
"Please, just let him sleep." She's pretty miffed about Adam being in bed with me.
"You should sleep on your own. He is disturbing you."
"I slept better with him here. Just let him sleep please." She was reluctant to answer.
"Fine. I'll be back in 30 minutes." I laid back down with Adam, who is still sound asleep. It's not a big deal that he slept here. I was more comfy with him here.
His arm wrapped tighter around my waist when I laid back down. He felt so warm, per usual. I fell back asleep.
"Well, good morning to you." Another nurse was at the bottom of our bed with Ella and Lyla in their cribs.
"Hello. What time is it?"
"It's 7:30. I came in to teach you how to change diapers and feed the babies."
"Oh, ok," I tried getting up, but Adam's arm wrapped even tighter, trying to keep me in bed. "Adam, we have to get up. Come on." He only mumbled in response.
"Lex, I'm tired."
"Adam, get up." He let go of me and we went over to the nurse. She explained how to change them and feed them and all that.
"Check out is today at 2 o'clock. Or before then, whenever you want to go." She left us with the girls, who just stared up at us.
"So, what now?"
"Um, I'm not sure." Thank God someone came in right then.
"How are you!" Lauren, Melanie, Courtney and Cassandra all came into the room holding flowers and teddy bears.
"Hey guys! I'm great!" I gave all of them a hug.
"Awww look! They are adorable!" They all hovered Ella and Lyla.
"You guys can ogle over the babies, I'm going to change real quick." I grabbed Adam's flannel and a pair of shorts. I've had enough of this hospital gown. It's quite itchy.
I looked at myself in the mirror and saw a completely different person. I'm now a mother of two, I still have a baby bump, and the bags under my eyes are already purple and huge. My hair is a complete wreck now. I've let it grow out back to its natural brown curly state, but it looks matted and nasty. What is happening to me?
I think the hospital is getting to me. I need to get out of here.
"Oh my god, the paparazzi around this place is unbelievable. I don't know how you're going to get out." I overheard Lauren telling Adam. Wonderful.
"Are you serious?" They all turned around to look at me.
"Yea, I'm sorry Alexa. Maybe we can sneak you out. You know, one of us takes Ella and the other takes Lyla." It seemed like a good idea.
"I'm not sure," Adam looked a little worried. "How will we get out?"
"You two can go out the back, before us. Then you take the car around, we put the babies in, and bam, no pictures."
"I think we should try it. But the only way we are getting out of here is if we all leave together. If I ask the nurse if Adam can just take me out the back, she wouldn't mind. Then you guys take Ella and Lyla, and by the time you get to the front, we will be waiting outside."
Adam still looked uneasy about this, but no way was I letting the public get pictures of me, or my little girls.
"Fine. Let's go." I gave him a huge hug and we gathered our stuff.
We told the nurse that we wanted to leave out the back, and she let us leave. She knew what media circus was outside and felt bad for us.
"Ok, give us about 7 minutes." Me and Adam went off to get the car, where he already set up 2 car seats. When did he have time to do that?
"Adam when did these get here?"
"I put them in last week. I can't believe you haven't noticed." How didn't I notice? It's so obvious that they're here.
"I feel like you're more prepared than I am." We got in the car an drove around front. I texted Lauren to tell her that we were waiting outside.
Lauren was right. The paparazzi out here was insane. I've never seen this amount before. How is the hospital letting this happen?
Lauren and Cassandra were holding the babies, and as soon as they stepped out the door, the camera flashes started to go off, but soon died down because they realized that Lauren and Cassandra weren't me.
Courtney and Melanie opened up the doors so Lauren and Courtney could put in the girls. I leaned back to give them a hand.
"Thank you guys so much. You really saved our asses."
"No problem. What are friends for?" Lauren gave me a warm smile, and I have her one back.
They closed the doors and we left the parking lot without anyone know what happened.
"Do you remember that night when you jumped out your window and into my arms?" Adam looked over at me with a very cute smile.
"Yea, I do. That's the night I pretty much fell in love with you," And it's true. I had only known him a day but I loved everything about him. "Why do you ask?"
"Well we just snuck out of a hospital, and it reminded me of how you snuck out to see me."
"I remember that like it was yesterday. I was terrified to jump, I didn't think you would catch me."
"I'll catch you every time you fall Alexa. I love you." I put my hand over his on the armrest. I love him so much.
"So, what do we do now?" Adam spoke up after a few minutes of silence.
"I really don't know. Should we go back to my house?"
"Sure." This was going to be more complicated than I thought.
