31. Dirty cream

"Hey, you woke up."

Jeonggoo is slow to understand that. Namkyung speaks to her. The girl strokes her hand affectionately and on her face exposes a faint smile.

"Nam... Kyung?"

"Yep."

"Where are we?"

"At the hospital. They had to operate on you because of the stab wound and the bruises were a serious problem" Namkyung replies. "Fortunately everything went well. Even the hardest part which was searching for blood transfusions."

"I don't understand."

"You don't remember what happened? You were ambushed and attacked in the west park. The one we took two weeks ago" Jeonggoo wrinkles and scrunches up her face. She feels dazed and uncomfortable. Namkyung presses the button to call the nurse. She helps her sit up and Jeonggoo grumbles teeth in. Her abdomen hurts and even with the nurse's help it is hard for her to sit up. She will be taken off the ventilator. The nurse leaves for a moment. "You barely wake up for real today. This happened two and a half days ago."

"but... I was and... and... and... Jimin How is Jimin? SHE-"

"Easy, easy" Namkyung stops her from getting up. "She's here too. They treated her instantly. She's in a room upstairs. As far as I understand she hasn't woken up yet" The nurse enters again. "I'll tell Jin that you're awake okay?"

Jeonggoo keeps turning over the last blurry image she had of her girlfriend: her crying and being abused by that group of people. Because of the treatment and lack of movement her face has healed relatively quickly. Her eye is swollen, but she doesn't feel sick or like sleeping for more than a week. Namkyung comes back in when the nurse leaves and gives permission, she has the Doberman dog squealing and trying to get on the gurney to give kisses to her owner. She doesn't quite manage to focus on Namkyung's explanation as to why they let him in as he is considered a pet dog.

"Can you tell me if Jimin wakes up? I want to go see her."

"Just get better for now okay?"

"In two days you'll be discharged. You have good healing and clotting." reports Namkyung helping Jeonggoo eat. She has one of her hands bandaged and the other is still somewhat stiff due to lack of movement and the very strain on her nerves.

"Jimin still not awake?"

"No. Not yet."

Jeonggoo knows that Namkyung is lying. Not because she wants to, but rather she doesn't know what state Jimin is in. Giving her a simple answer something unknown to her. Jeonggoo assumes that she has no way to approach either, the Park family doesn't know her. Only Jimin. Namkyung, as part of Bangtan, is most likely better off staying away. These two days that she has conscious she has noticed Namkyung worried and uneasy.

"Nam-"

"In the days you were unconscious something very serious happened...but I haven't wanted to say it yet because I'm worried that someone will come near" she announces quietly. "I'll tell you in the evening, after the nurse comes by."

She nods, somewhere between curious and worried. Namkyung is rarely this cryptic. The hours pass quickly, having Bam quietly in the room, television and Namkyung to help her with trifles without having to call the nurses. In the middle of the early morning Jeonggoo yawns and looks at Namkyung. She takes a seat next to the teenager and whispers:

"Jin killed her uncle."

Jeonggoo drops her jaw slightly.
