"You left a message in case you didn't see me. What was it you said Jeonggoo?"
She wakes up startled, sits up in bed quickly. Some of her hair damp with sweat. She breathes through her mouth and feels her face stiff with bandages and cream. She jumps up and holds her breath for a graze on her arm. Jeonggoo finds Jimin just awake. Behind her she sees a Winnie Pooh clock in the shape of a honey pot. It reads four o'clock in the morning. Jimin remains with a wrinkled, puffy, sleepy face.
"What's wrong sweetie?"
Jeonggoo tries to normalize her breathing. Shakes her head and lies down again. Jimin approaches to hug her without hurting more. Early gives to Jeonggoo a pair of pajamas that she hardly wears because it's too stretched out. It doesn't fit her. Jeonggoo does. Jimin caresses her lovingly as brushes strands of hair away from her face.
"You're going to be better tomorrow. I promise." Jimin gives her lips a brush. Barely enough to be considered a kiss.
"I'll leave as soon as your parents leave. That way I won't cause you any trouble."
Jimin gives a giggle and curls up in her site.
"Take it easy. I'm not worried about it. Besides, we'll delay our study session. I mean," she yawns and winks. "You won."
"Good." Jeonggoo says feigning celebration.
Jeonggoo thinks Jimin fell asleep until she speaks again:
"If you have any problems, you can tell me... I'm going to help you with whatever you need, Jeonggoo."
A couple of minutes later she's already asleep. Jeonggoo takes one of her hands and brings it up to his mouth, giving her a raspy kiss through the scabs on her lips. Doesn't want her to know. Doesn't feel it's necessary. It's something in her life that she wants to stop being there and one way to do that is not to involve more people. Least of all someone she loves so much.
