"I love you" I whisper into his ear. "I'm surprised you're turning out like me. I like it" He smirks. "Can you guys not talk like that in front of me" Kayla fakes her smile. I notice she hasn't been as happy lately. I'm going to talk to her tonight. "So where are we going now?" I ask. "Well we have to return the car, I guess we have to drop you off as well". I'm not ready to say goodbye. "Already? It's better if I just meet your uncle at the location" I sigh. "I think you guys should drop me off at the airport first. I think it'll be a good idea." Kayla said quietly. Ok, something's definitely wrong.
"Don't you think we should wait for Samy and Dante first?" Mariano asked my best friend. "I already said goodbye through the phone. It's alright". "Mariano stop the car" I begged. I need to talk to her. "Why? We're half an hour away from my Uncle's". "Mariano pull over" I begged again. He pulls over to the side of the road. I open my door then I open Kayla's. "Get out." She looks at me in a confused way. "What?" Kayla questions. She immediately takes off her seatbelt and gets out of the car. I close the door leaving Mariano alone. "Tell me what's wrong Kayla? something is definitely off" I cross my arms.
She stayed silent meanwhile I was still waiting for her response. She takes a deep breath in and out. "Dante and I broke up". Holy shit... Greatest moment... I mean not so great moment of my life. "I'm so sorry Kay" I hugged her. "I- I don't want to talk about it. I just want to move on from it alright?" She mentions. "You got it" I nod. The two of us get back in the car. "Now can we leave?" Mariano asks me. "Yes" I say. He starts up the car and drives to his uncle's.
When we pulled up to the driveway we see Mariano's Uncle standing by his garage. I guess he noticed that the two people in front of me stole his car. "What were you thinking!" We heard him yell. Mariano parks the car in the garage and the three of us get out of his car. Mariano walks away to talk to his uncle leaving Kayla and me alone. "Sarai?". "Yeah?" I turn my body towards Kayla. "I'm ready". "Ready for what Kay" I tilt my head in confusion. "Dante broke up with me because of the distance. I tried to make it work so he could move with me to Cancun, I told him that he and his family could stay with us. I wanted to make it work" Kayla breaks down. "Oh baby" I pull her into another hug.
"Sar- oh what's going on in here" Mariano walks back into the garage. "Nothing" Kayla pulls herself away from the hug and cleans her tears. "Kayla, Dante told me what happened. I'm sorry". "Can we just move on from this? We should be celebrating our last day together" Kayla walks out of the garage and makes her way into the house. I grab onto Mariano's hand and the two of us follow Kayla inside the house. "What's Kayla doing in the pantry? She has two beers in her hand and she's looking for snacks in My House". "we couldn't stop for snacks along the way" I ran into the pantry trying to find Kayla before she gets all shitty. I spot her sitting by herself on the huge patio. "Don't drink those just yet. Maybe have some when you're in Cancun" I chuckle. I tried to pull the beers away from her. She wouldn't let go.
"If only you could go with me. We could've been partying our lives away" she chuckles. "Hey, I promise you once all this shit goes away best to believe we'll have the time of our lives in Cancun". I'm going to miss her I can't deal with staying away from my friends who became my family.
Once the clock hit 11 PM it was time to say goodbye. "I'll be there soon ok. I love you" those were the last words he said before I got onto the plane. It was only going to be Mariano's uncle and me on the "jet". I wave goodbye to everyone else that was watching us from the outside. I could see the pain in their eyes, honestly, I felt the same. Now it was time to end this mess.
