Chapter Thirteen
“Ma names Joseph.” He looked at me and gave me a small smile. “This wills all e’d soona 'nough.” He walked out and shut the door.
“Wait!” I yelled, “Please wait!” I tried to get up but I was too weak. My tears wouldn’t fall; I was just hurting myself trying to get up. “Please, please…”
I sat there unmoving; waiting. Nothing happened.
A couple more days passed and nothing. I slid to the food, feeling the ground scrap against my skin. My ripped skin leaked blood. I tipped the basket; he did not untie my hands. I couldn’t see the food clearly, so I didn’t bother eating. I would just sit there for hours on end, just waiting.
“Laci, Honey? Can you hear me? I really miss you both, I feel like I am not going to make it another night. I love you both so much. Kiss Mom and Dad for me, kiss them so much.” I began to cry. “I am going to miss you.” I closed my eyes and set my head down on the dirt floor. Am I ready to give up? Am I really prepared to die?
It was getting harder for me to breath, I couldn’t keep my eyes open, and I couldn’t feel my body. Taking a deep breath made me feel like a fish out of water. My skin was dry and rough, my hair felt like hay, blinking hurt my eyes, my tongue felt like a swollen dry sponge, and my lips felt like sand paper.
I closed my eyes, terrified.
This was goodbye.
“Hold her tight, she is weak.”
“Don’t let them in!”
“Is there any news? Prince are you alright?”
“They really want to see her.”
“She is safe. Go now.”
“Please wake up, we need you.”
“I am fairly sure you can hear me darling, Theodore left and has not come back, he blames himself for this; you need to wake up now.”
“Sister! They finally let us see you, you look so sick. Please wake up! I hate looking in the mirror it reminds me of you.”
“I love you.”
“Hello Crissy, this is Alex. Please wake up now, brother might be in trouble, you need to get up.”
I could feel the air slowly fill my lungs, for awhile that is all I could feel. My hair stopped feeling heavy and my tongue was not swollen any more.
The moment I knew I was still alive was when I got a sharp pain in my stomach. I was starving. I tried to move but I couldn’t. I didn’t hear anyone around me. I felt like I was being suffocated.
I heard the door open and someone walked in. I heard heels clicking until they were next to me. Whoever that was began messing with things around me. I heard her move about and stop right next to me.
“I am Nurse Clare. I know you can hear me, I can hear your thoughts.”
No she can’t.
“Try me.”
What is going on? Where’s Theodore.
“We don’t know a Psychic is looking for him.”
A Psychic, What is this?
“This isn’t your world, it’s ours.”
So is everything Paranormal?
“No we live amongst human beings.”
Who is we?
“Psychics, vampires, werewolves, dragons, witches, zombies, shape shifters, demons, ghosts, anything you name it.”
I want to go home.
There was a knock on the door and someone walked in. I heard steps walking towards us. They stopped a couple feet away.
“Dave have you asked The Elder?”
“He does not approve, he thinks it is to extreme. But he gave us the go anyway.”
“Are you sure?”
“He said it was a rash decision but he said it’s the only chance we got.”
“Crissy this is Dave, he is a wizard. He is going to help us.”
Why do you sound sad?
“It’s not going to be easy. Don’t worry you will be okay.”
I heard Dave move closer and stop at the foot of this bed. He started fussing with things around me as Clare was before. I heard a pop and a click.
“This might hurt.” Dave told me. I felt a shift by my arm and another pop.
What is going on?
“It will all end soon.”
In no time, I felt flames right on the center of my palm. I tried to move away but I could not. It felt like my skin was melting.
Help! Clare help me! My bones felt like they were all breaking, one by one. Clare! I tried to move I tried to get away.
“I can’t be in here.” Clare walked away.
Please help me make it stop!
The pain grew worse. My stomach pain increased, my heart was pounding, I could not hear, my breath was increasing, I felt like I was being burned alive. I clenched my jaw to keep from yelling.
“Bring the other two in.” I heard yelling and screaming.
Thoughts of Theodore and our wedding burned into my mind. I saw him with another girl, Rose. She did not get married to him. She did not. I saw her in a wedding dress; she was running somewhere. She ran into a cave, which is where she found Joseph and the other one.
I am going to die.
I am going to be dead.
