48. FIRST Baby

The brightest smile on Manik's face was so precious for Nandini, that made her forget everything around her. He was gently rocking the little one when their family and friends entered.

Nyonika couldn't stop smiling seeing the replica of Manik and she carefully took him from Manik's hands.

He smiled and turned to see Nandini and was surprised seeing her awake. He walked towards her and kissed her forehead before he said "Sorry...Thought you were sleeping..."

Her throat was dry and it was hard for her to talk but managed to smile and say "It's okay..."

The doctor came after some time and checked Nandini and left after advising her food routine.

"I will not stress more because you have both your mother and mother-in-law beside you...I know they will take care of you very well...You can be discharged in next 2 days...But you need to take complete bed rest for at least a month or two till the stitches dissolve..." Dr.Bindu said and left after getting an affirmation from Nyonika.

Raj left to check the hospital formalities and Manik's friends left after spending sometime with junior Malhotra. Nyonika went to get home made food for Nandini while Shobhana stayed back along with Manik.

Nandini was taking rest while Manik was adoring his son laying in the cradle. His pink little fingers, pointed nose and rosy lips, no wonder Nyonika saw him as Manik's replica.

Manik flinched when the little one moved in his sleep and he let out a sigh when he slept again.

Manik never experienced a panic attack until his son let out a loud wail in sleep making him gulp in fear.

"M...Maaa" He shouted not knowing what to do and hearing his loud voice, the little one cried more making Nandini open her eyes.

"Manik..." She called him and he turned to Nandini with panic stricken face.

"Give him to me...He might be hungry..." She said extending her hands but Manik was in no state to lift him with his shivering hands. Shobhana entered with a cup of coffee for Manik and rushed to the baby hearing his cry.

She placed the cup on the side table and took the baby softly and adjusted him near Nandini's chest while Manik stood bewildered and took his time to react.

"Manik...Relax..." Shobhana said tapping on his shoulder and he sighed with a nod.

He looked at the little creature that created an earth quake in his heart a moment ago, happily sucking his mother's milk. He shook his head with a slight smile and then looked at Nandini who closed her eyes in contentment.

He slowly sat beside her and she looked at him with the same twinkling eyes and said "I feel complete..."

Manik smiled and wrapped his hand around her shoulder and pecked on her lips but stopped proceeding further looking at the little one who has stopped having his feed and was glaring at him.

Manik frowned looking at him and said "What are you looking at...?? Tu apna kaam kar and I'll do mine..."

The baby's lip wobbled when Manik pulled Nandini towards himself and he let out small cries gaining Nandini's attention towards him.

"No no bacha...Mumma is here...Shooo...shooo" She said tapping him lightly and made him latch on her for his feed again.

If Manik wasn't wrong, he saw his son smirking at him after successfully spoiling his attempt of kissing his wife.

2 days later, Nandini was all set to discharge and they went to meet the pediatrician for baby's check up. She checked him and suggested for a check up after one month.
