Dexter's point of view
"So Dexter, what's your story?"
I raised an ear as I was pulled from my thoughts "Hm?"
Spark, the Pikachu that I had met just that morning met me with a kind smile and seemed to have genuine interest in his voice "What did you do before you were caught? If you don't mind me asking, I'd like to get to know you."
The sun was still on its daily rise as the morning air mixed into the scents of nature. I was on the road to Cerulean city with my new comrades and was trying my best to seem as normal as possible. Spark and I were picking up the rear of the group, giving us a little bit of privacy.
"Yeah Dex." Sounded Night as he slowed down to walk with us "What did you do before I met you." Sarcasm was dripping from his words. He knew full well I couldn't say that I had been reading minds and wanted to see what I could come up with.
"Not much of consequence really." I lied with the flick of my ears "I've just been traveling around Kanto and seeing the sights."
"Aw, come on. There must be a story behind those blue eyes of yours at least." Egged on Spark with a smirk.
"Just a birth defect." I laughed a little "Sorry if I'm not as interesting as Night here."
"Aw shucks." Cooed the Umbreon as he gave me a sly look "Name dropping me on your first day? I'm flattered."
Glad that Night seemed okay with shifting the focus off me I continued "Is there anything you guys can tell me about the others? They seem nice enough."
"And they are, Ruby… the Vulpix, is a little sharp but she'll get used to you in time. Razor is the Bulbasaur and a goofball but kind once you get to know him. Ion's the Jolteon. He's a little hyped up and might annoy you but don't let it get to you." Replied Spark giving me the run down.
"The Vaporeon's my sister. She's quiet but I'm pretty sure you two'll get along." Spoke Night before nudging me "But you already knew that."
"How?" asked Spark to my dismay.
I quickly diffused the question with a smart lie "Night told me about her in the cave."
"You two must've done a little bonding in there, you'll have to tell me the story someday."
"Hey! What's going on here!" shouted the voice of the human named Desmond with aggression. I peaked ahead to observe the situation. Azelf wouldn't want anything bad to happen to the ones that were meant to save Arceus, so if there was any true danger I'd have to react.
"It's Team Rocket…" I said with honest surprise. I'd recognize those gray uniforms anywhere and the giant red R nailed the point home.
"Team Rocket… What are they doing here…" mumbled Spark in anger "I thought they were already handled."
"Team who?" asked Night as the poster-boy of ignorance.
"Team Rocket." Fumed Spark, clearly not happy with what he was seeing "They're a group of monsters that were kicked out of this region years ago, but I guess they're still some stragglers that believe in abusing Pokémon for profit."
From what I could see there were two Rocket grunts on the road before us, one male and the other female. Below them under a net was a set a Nidoran, male and female respectfully, that didn't look too happy about their situation. From what I knew about Team Rocket this scene wasn't looking too good for them.
"Crap… I told you this wasn't a good place for this." Sounded the female grunt.
"Well sorry if I saw the chance to capture them and jumped on it." Replied the male.
