"Again… Come on!" I shouted as I looked around "I'm really tired of this."

Once again for the umpteenth time that day I was back in that now exhausting white landscape of grass with the black moon above. At first it was interesting and maybe a little bit charming, but by that point just being asleep was starting to feel like a chore.

Frowning I started to look around for that little dark ball that had been bothering me "What? No cryptic line? Where are you?"

Nothing

"Hello?!" I yelled with a little more aggravation

"No need to yell I'm right behind you."

I jumped at this new, less creepy sounding male voice. Quickly turning my body I saw that I was indeed not alone in the blank environment. Floating a bit off the ground was what looked like a Mew wannabe; a blue Pokémon of similar body type to the origin Pokémon with a bizarre looking crown on its head with two tails with its arms crossed glared at me with light amber eyes.

"Um…" I looked up and down at the relatively small creature in front of me "Hi?"

The Pokémon smiled a bit "Sorry if I scared you." He swiped his hand "Not my intention."

I blinked "Don't worry, I've seen some weird stuff today. Really it's okay."

The blue Pokemon seemed confused "Okay? You… you don't know who I am?"

I frowned a little and cocked my head "Am I supposed to?"

"Well… yeah. I'm pretty popular." He paused and looked up and down "I think."

"You think? Are you special?"

The Pokémon seemed offended "Am I special?" He pointed at the red gem in his forehead "The gem doesn't do it for you…" he rolled his eyes and sighed before landing.

"I'm Azelf, the legendary Pokémon that controls willpower." Spoke the creature with a proud smile "And you my Umbreon friend are very lucky."

I didn't believe him. There was no way some legendary Pokémon had the time to just stop by in one of my dreams "Toros-crap." I said bluntly "This is obviously just a dream."

Azelf, or whatever his name is, gave a calm smile "I thought this would happen… This isn't a dream Night." He floated up to my face "What kind of dream is this vivid? Nothing truly bizarre is happening. Legendary Pokémon are real, you know that. Sometimes they visit normal Pokémon, you know that." He paused "What if I tell you something you don't know.

I gulped as I got serious "What do you mean?"

"You've already been contacted indirectly by a legendary." Answered the little blue Pokemon "And if you want to be able to be ready for what's ahead you should listen to what I have to say."

The thought of the black mass came to mind, maybe this wasn't a dream "Okay I'll bite, what do you want from me?"

"From you? I want you to just continue your journey for now and I want you to know that I'll have your back if anything comes along that you can't handle. Get your butt to Pewter and maybe by then I'll have permission to tell you more."

I laughed "Permission… from who?"

"I have higher ups the same way you do Night." I crossed his arms "Just be aware that you and a lot of Pokémon connected to you will play important roles in things to come."

"Really?" I asked sarcastically.

Azelf got into my face "Really."

Pausing for a second I nodded "Fine, I…" I sighed "You really can't be a legendary Pokémon."

Azelf smirked "Well it doesn't matter if you don't beilive it right now, I'll see you again soon Night. Until then keep safe and be wary of nightmares…" he started to fly away "They're never just coincidence."

POV ?

'What am I doing?'

The Pokémon before me shook in terror.

'Is it worth it?'

He clutched himself in fear.

'Is it right? I'll never know.'

"I-I don't…" stammered the Furret as it cried "I don't know anymore."

I swallowed and asked again "What is your name, just tell me."

"I don't know… I don't know anything. Who are you?"

I withheld my emotions even as sadness and guilt gripped me "I'm… I'm not important." I started to walk toward the terrified Pokémon "Just tell me your name, just remember. I know you can do it."

Sobbing the Furret pressed its paws onto its head "I can't remember… anything. I- all I know is that I used to have something. A family maybe…" the pitiful creature bent over "But I can't remember anymore!"

I felt a tear starting to form 'Not again' I thought. Bowing my head I whispered "I'm sorry…" Knowing that I could do nothing to help I turned and left. The only sounds in the forests were the Furret's cries.

I'm certain you want to know who I am, but that will have to wait. All you need to know is that I have ambition, but not in the bad way. I want to help Pokémon… even humans. To do that effectively I need to have power, and a lot of it. Knowledge is the only way to get power… that's something I understood. And the fastest way to obtain knowledge is to borrow it from others.

"I have to figure out how to do that without taking the memories… or I'll just do more damage than help." I said to myself as I sulked through the woods.

I closed my eyes tight as the Furret's screams tore through my ears.

'I did that to you' I thought.

'And when I get strong enough I'll fix you and everyone else I've destroyed to save the world'
