3rd POV:
Hanji quickly snapped out of her trance once she heard the sound of a body thumping against the ground. She grabbed her pocket knife she had on her, usually only used when an experiment went... haywire. She dashed forward, and threw the small knife into the monsters torso blindly. The grotesque shadow creature just picked up Deku, and left as Hanji took one last lunge at it. The creature disappeared through the window, and into the night. Hanji's panic and disappointment skyrocketed. Thoughts swam deeply in her head. They consisted of, 'this is my fault.', 'where was that thing taking Deku?','What was that thing?' and many more questions and self blaming sequences. She quickly got up, and noticed a small glob of the monster left behind. She picked it up into a small evidence bag to begin testing on it. She rushed back to her lab, to look at it.
She barraged into the room, and put the evidence under a very old fashioned microscope. She noticed that instead of the usual phosphate in the DNA, there was nothing. It seemed to be an incomplete, or failed project to recreate human DNA, resulting in that horrifying creature.
As Hanji explored deeper into why the creator was the way it is, she didn't notice the pair of eyes on her.
-:':- The Next Morning -:':-
Hanji fell asleep facedown on the table, after barely putting away the evidence in time. She realized how she had forgotten to tell Levi that they need to send out a search party for Deku, and left to do that.
"Hey Levi..." She said slowly, as if approaching a wild animal. She peeped her head into his office, earlier realizing she slept through breakfast.
"Hello Hanji..." He said grumpily. "You finally decided to come out of your god-forsaken lab. Have you?"
"Yes..." She answered calculatingly, stepping all the way in.
"Have you seen Deku? we were supposed to meet up earlier so I could talk to him about the next plan for the titans." Levi said.
"About that... last night he got taken by... a strange creature..." Hanji said while looking down worriedly.
"We need to send out a search party... immediately. He's great at coming up with strategies. While we have other strategists, he's still a great asset to have." Levi said. If you listened closely, you could hear the undertone of worry.
"Right... should we use the..."
She didn't even have to finish before Levi interrupted her saying, "Yes."
"Alright." She said while leaving the room, sprinting through the halls and gathering up the search party.
"Here we go again..."
