Chapter 16

The air in Cale's table turned cold in an instant.

If earlier there's still curiosities and interest hanging around the atmosphere in their table, that quickly turned into stiff and cold.

The others didn't notice it yet as they are enjoying eating while talking to each other but Cale's table that is mainly composed of his family, has a stiff air around them.

Choi Han who was sitting next to Lock couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with the sudden change in atmosphere. The group didn't know of Cale's past life, nor did they know what kind of connection they have in this world. 

Earth 2.

A parallel world and one of the many Earths there is that existed. 

In particular, Cale didn't have any ties in this world, other than that he had a parallel identity in this world—Kim Rok Soo is from Earth 1. He's 36 years old in that world just before he transmigrated to Cale Henituse's body. 

If one to consider, Cale is like a person who's from the future. He, who had experienced the same kind of events on Earth 1, is like a time traveller from the future who had gained the opportunity to change the path of the wheels of fate, to change the impending destruction that he had once experienced.

Although it is a parallel world and didn't have any direct connection to this world, that doesn't change the fact that there exist the same people who also existed in Earth 1, and Cale was unable to save them just like what he did here.

Choi Han himself came from Earth 1. And even though he never meet the Choi Jung Soo of that world in person, that doesn't change the fact that when he found out he's a relative, he wanted to save him and know that he's alive. That's why when he realized that he can save this world's Choi Jung Soo, Choi Han didn't hesitate to pass over his swordsmanship in order to build up his nephew's strength, hoping that it would help him.

Cale sighed as he put the wine glass down and wiped his lips with the napkin and stood up.

"I'll be with Alberu-hyung."

Cale announced as he gently put the napkin down and looked back to Ron who had his benign smile wiped off his face while looking at him.

'Scary...'

A shiver run down Cale's spine the moment he met Ron's observing eyes. He had the sudden urge to just run away and stay away from his old butler.

However, he reigned it in as he made his face look indifferent and passive as usual.

"Ron, don't follow me."

That was all as he left his group and leave the cafeteria that had turned silent at some point when they saw Cale stand up.
