the cat was still bundled up in his arms when sapnap got back to his apartment. niki was with him, making sure he didn't kill himself trying to get up the stairs with a cat in his arms. she also talked to the landlord a bit to make sure he could have pets.

"what're you gonna name him?" niki asked, closing the door behind her. sapnap kicked off his shoes and plopped down on the couch, thinking.

"something cliche, like snowy or some shit," sapnap concluded. "ooh, how about paws?"

"paws? i think it's cute," niki said with a smile. "we'll go get supplies tomorrow, alright? now, you go shower and go to sleep. you smell like weed and shit."

reluctantly, sapnap got off the couch, carefully handing paws to niki. he shuffled into the bathroom and switched on the shower, stripping off his clothes. they really did smell like weed.

niki, being the best person ever, had laid out pajamas for him and even written a little note explaining where she was.

sapnap,

i have to go get minx from dream and fundy's apartment. i'll be back tomorrow with some cat supplies, so don't get up too early. tomorrow's sunday, after all.

sapnap smiled as he climbed onto the bed where paws waited. for a cat he found in the wild, paws was awfully kind and patient, not at all like sapnap's old cat. he had to leave her back at his parents' house.

"goodnight, paws," sapnap yawned. just as he was about to fall asleep, his phone lit up on the nightstand next to him.
