Sanguk.Cinderella was always such a peculiar story to Sanguk. A story about a young woman who was treated poorly by her stepmother and stepsisters. She talked to mice and birds, then she cleaned and did all the chores for her stepfamily. A ball happens with a prince, so she meets her fairy godmother, who turns her into a pretty princess. Cinderella goes to the ball, meets the prince, and falls in love. Of course, her time was limited with the magic but didn't realize how much time passed so she immediately leaves and then the story goes on and on but the part Sanguk was stuck on has to how the prince didn't recognize her at first but only recognized her when the shoe fit her. There were a lot of different Cinderella stories, but the one he was reading didn't make that sense to him.
Sanguk shut the book, and he looks at his younger cousin Joey. "I don't like," Sanguk mumbled and Joey chuckled because it wasn't meant for Sanguk to like, it was for him to practice his reading. "Hyung, it's not for you to like. It's for practice," Joey says and Sanguk exhaled because he honestly feels so miserable because it wasn't enough for him. Joey tried his best to teach him as much as he could, but it still wasn't enough. "It's going to be forever before I'm fluent. How am I supposed to talk to Mariposa and get my citizenship?" Sanguk grumbled as he ran his hands through his hair.
Joey nodded, and he grabbed his older cousin's hand. "It takes time and patience. I'm trying my best to teach you, I'll work harder," Joey frowned a little and Sanguk squeezed Joey's hand slightly. He pulls him into a tight hug and Sanguk exhales. "I'm sorry, I'm very grateful for your time and you're very great to me. I'm just being impatient. I just want..." Sanguk trailed off and Joey nodded, he rested his hand on Sanguks's arm. "You will become the person you want to be, I promise," Joey says and Sanguk smiles a little, he nods and Joey closes the book. "I can only teach you basics but didn't you mention that Mariposa's mother teaches English at the recreational center, you should check it out," Joey encourages.
Sanguk has thought about it but the thought of going to Mariposa's mother embarrassed him slightly but it's just one of the reasons for learning English was to prove to her parents that he was good for her because he wasn't a foolish man, Mariposa's parents wanted a sophisticated, smart and silver spoon type of guy and Sanguk wasn't all those things but he was more than enough for Mariposa and is willing to fight for her.
"I will go tomorrow and see," Sanguk grinned.
Joey smiled widely, he patted his cousin's shoulder. "Good."
Mariposa.
Mariposa wasn't the type to get nervous but today, her nerves were all over the place. Mariposa stood in front of Mary who had her face scrunched up, her eyes were wide and she shook her head because she couldn't believe the nonsense that was coming out of Mariposa's mouth. "I honestly don't think I feel too well because it sounded like you said that you were going to take Sanguk on a date," Mary says fanning herself as she laid back on Mariposa's bed.
Mariposa rolled her eyes and she looked into the mirror. "You're not sick, delusional.. Maybe a little but that's exactly what I said," Mariposa remarked and Mary grabbed one of Mariposa's books that nearby, she began to fan herself violently. "You have lost your damn mind. When does a woman ever ask a man on date? Good God, you feminist... always want to switch roles with men... why can't you just let men be men and you just let them come to you... it's embarrassing," Mary seethed.
Mariposa frowned and she tilted her head. "Once again... that's not necessarily how feminism works. And, there's nothing wrong with taking a man on a date... times are a-changin' and I really like Sanguk and I want to treat him to a night of fun... can I not do that? Besides... I'm going to ask him to be my boyfriend and if you don't like that or what I'm doing... I really don't give a shit. I never cared and I don't know why you or my daddy think I will now," Mariposa stated and she looked in the mirror, she had her hair in two braids because the air was moist this afternoon from the previous day of rain.
