Festival Friends

He smiled a little.

Not hundred how to to do this, or if it would work like he hoped it would.

Oh well. Definitively worth a shot.

She was going to stay with him.

Tomo walked down the stairs casually.

But something not so casually was in her mind.

(Y/N) POV

I really wonder who Teru-Kun's crush is... it wasn't Aijin-San... maybe I should ask Nene-Chan if Akane-San likes to sing... he mentioned good voice, right?

she was deeply in her mind, and it went everywhere, from who it was, to their confession, to their wedding, her mind went wild. Now she didn't pay attention to her surroundings. She didn't notice the tall boy coming towards her in the empty corridor.

Teru's POV

Huh? There she is. Nobody around either.

"Hey Tomo-Chan." he said. No response.

"Hey Tomo-Chan~." he tried again. No reaction.

"Tomo-Chan!" his voice were louder, but not did that help. So he sneaked up behind her.

"Tomo-Chan~." he said in her ear.

"Eh?" finally. She jumped a little and now noticed she had walked down the stairs and stopped in thought just below it. Then she remembered someone had said her name in her ear, so she quickly looked around but... found no one?

"Here I am~." she quickly turned around and met Teru's eyes. He gave her a small but handsome smile. "Now, Tomo-Chan, is it really a good idea to space out?" he took a step closer. "What if someone came?" another step closer, to which she backed. "Not very clever today." he kept getting closer until she backed into a wall.

"E-ehm, Teru-Kun... hi. What are you doing here?" she said even though she was very red.

"Just checking out something." he managed to take one step closer and were now inches away from her face. "Seems that I've done that now, I have nothing to do..." he sighed and looked away, now not as close, so (Y/N) could take a deep breath calming down. Teru smirked a little. "What about you? Planning to space out all day?"

"N-no! Not my plan! My plan is..."

"Yes?" Teru said.

"What?"

"Your plan?"

"You big bully!"

"Ouch..."

"I don't have one, but it's not like you do either."

"Well, actually, I do." (me not thinking I do as in wedding I do... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))

"But you said you have nothing to do?"

"But you don't either, so we can hang out." he gave her another of his handsome smiles. What next, sparkles and flowers around him like in all those romance anime when you see the love interest?

"Oh wait... that's a good idea. Maybe you aren't just a big bully. But what do we do? Rooftop?"

"Ah ah~ we go into town."

"I mean school has ended, but why into town?"

"Do you have no social life? There's a festival."

"Yep. You're a big bully."

"That still hurts." Teru rubbed the back of his head. "But there will be lots of things to do, even now on early evening."

"Yes, let's go right now!" (Y/N) said with sparkles in her eyes.

"Wow, changed attitude fast?"

"Let's just go!" she took his hand and dragged him outside the school. He looked at her with a smile. She acted just like an exited child.

"Woah~!" (Y/N) looked around at the festival. There were already people there and so many stalls were open. There were some stalls with Taiyaki, the fish cake, and they all specialized in one of the fillings, like red bean (the classic one), custard, chocolate or sweet potato, then there were stalls with Takoyaki, the balls of pancake batter filled with sliced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger and green onion. There were all kinds of food like Yakisoba (noodles), dango (a sweet on skewer), crepes, yakitori (skewers) and so much more. "It all smells so nice!"

There were also Kingyo Sukui, the fish scooping game where you were supposed to catch goldfishes, the super ball Sukui, same as Kingyo Sukui but you were scooping rubber balls. There were many more scooping games, like scoop toy or a balloon filled with water, but there were various games, like a gun shooting game and ring tossing. Some stalls sold masks and that kind of things, but it seemed that no one really used Kimono or festival clothes. Maybe people would on the evening.

"So, where do you wanna start?" Teru asked.

"Can we go get yakisoba?" (Y/N) asked exited and Teru nodded.

"I see a yakisoba stall over there with not so much of a line, let's go there." and they walked up to the stall.

"It taste so good!" Tomo said happily.

"It really does..."

"Now, what do you want to do?"

"Let's play Kingyo Sukui."

"The fish catching game? Okay!"

They went around on the festival for so long, that it had become dark. More people were now there than before, and many wore yukata, a traditional robe. Right now, the two friends were just walking around, snacking o a dango each and looking at all the people. There were kids running around with masks and playing, friends who chatted and challenged each other in shooting games, couple who walked around and talked, all kinds of people. Tomo and Teru had already been mistaken as a couple three times, and it was actually kind of annoying to tell every stall owner they met that they were just friends. Wonder what would happen if someone from their school saw them walking around as if on a date... the rumors would never stop. Minamoto-Senpai dating a younger girl. They would never find that younger girl though...

"Know what I heard when you were catching those rubber balls?" Teru said to his friend.

"What?" Tomo asked in between her bite on the soft ball made of rice flour glazed with the sweet soy sauce called mitarashi.

"There will be fireworks soon. If we hurry now, we can make it to the hill to see them better."

"What are we waiting for? Come now!"

"Will they start soon?"

"Anytime now."

They had made it to the top of the hill, and now they were just waiting for the fireworks to start.

"I hope they'll start soon, who knew it was this much colder with no warm food stalls around..."

And then they started.

Blue, red, yellow, green, all the colors lighting up the night sky. Big ones, small ones, everywhere. And it all ended with a big (f/c) one.

"wow..." Tomo said. Teru had been staring at the fireworks a little, but mostly, he had been looking at (Y/N)'s face that was lit up by the fireworks.

They both hadn't noticed their hands intertwining.

Gosh, nearly chickened out with this...

Sorry for the late updates! I've had a fever (not corona) and couldn't look at a screen without getting dizzy...
